T here are some interesting object lessons for us to observe when we look at Christ in the vegetable king dom. The Lord Jesus, of course made everything which is a part of it. Let us think of Him first of all as the Branch. In Isa ia h '4:2 we read that Christ is the Branch, speaking here of beauty. We love to look at trees for they are majestic and filled with grand eur. In facial characteristics, we read that Christ was fairer than all the sons of men. In Isaiah 11:1, He is called the Branch because of-His eternal character which is revealed. He had no beginning and no ending. In Jeremiah 23:5, He is called the Branch for righteousness. He is holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners. No one of us could ever say that. He is also called the Branch for judgment. One time He stood in the Garden of Gethsemane and said, “Whom do you seek?” They said, “We seek Jesus of Nazareth,” and He said, “I am he.” The whole mob fell to the ground just at His word. He spoke to a fig tree and it dried up. He spoke to the storm and it ceased. In a coming day He shall rule the nations of the world with a rod of iron. In Zechariah 3:8 He is called the Branch for service. How you and I need to bear fruit for His glory. We can only do so as we abide in Him. Read the fifteenth chapter of John’s gospel. Then in Zechariah 6:12, He is the Branch for wooing. In all mat ters both religious and political, the Lord Jesus Christ is sovereign ruler of heaven and earth. He rightly tells us, “No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” Also in the vegetable kingdom, Christ is compared to the lily of the valley. This is true because of His supreme beauty. The lily of the valley is one of earth’s most beautiful and majestic

blossoms. And how fragrant it is. It is humble, too. One has to get down pretty low to look up into it. So it is with the Saviour. He says that the proud He knoweth afar off. The lily of the valley is always pure white just like our Saviour. You will never find anything wrong in Jesus Christ. The worst atheist to whom I ever talked MY TEACHER

couldn’t find any fault in Him. He is absolutely perfect. It is the only lily I know of which grows wherever veg etation can grow throughout the world. It is a universal plant. Christ saves anyone who will come to Him, regard less of race or color. The Bible also refers to Him as the Rose of Sharon. The Rose of Sharon 25
