Lewisville Middle School Comes in First! Over the weekend of April 6th and 7th, the Lewisville Middle School Cheerleading Team traveled to Halifax, NS to compete in the Cheer Expo Cheerleading Grand Championship. This is the first time a school team from NB has traveled and competed at this out-of- province National Competition, and the LMS Panthers came home as 1st Place Champions in their scholastic division, with a special award for Awesome Cheer! In addition, the team had the 3rd highest score of all middle and high school scholastic teams. The team’s coaches, families, and friends are incredibly proud of their hard work, athleticism, and awesome sportsmanship – it was an honour to have received permission to travel out of province, and the team can’t wait to hang these special banners in the LMS gym! This weekend the team travels to Saint John to compete at Princess Elizabeth School’s Middle School Competition. Good luck, Lewisville!

Arnold H McLeod School – Coming soon to a school near you: AHM Snack Attack. During our service project for the months of March and April we will be attacking hunger. We will be building a granola bar run. This is our fourth year, and the granola runs continue to get bigger and more complicated. Caretakers and staff donate regular sized boxes of granola bars. As the boxes arrive at the school, students keep a tally in their classroom and a grade 5 math group keeps a tally of the full total of boxes collected. This helps determine the size and final date of the event. On the date of the snack attack event, all classes line the halls to watch the granola bar run. Some years we have a few drops in the run, other years a few more. The full run which takes about 2.5 minutes is recorded and sent to classes to watch and rewatch. They can then try to wonder why or ponder how the errors occurred. This inquiry-based thinking is an important part of all academic and life tasks. Lat year we raised over 1,100 boxes of granola and cereal bars. All boxes collected are donated to the Food Depot Alimentaire. AHM giving back one granola bar box at a time.

Frank L Bowser School- Since the beginning of March, students in Mme Samuel, Mme Short, Mme Groulx, and Mme Pineau’s classes have been participating in Manie Musicale. Students listened to 16 francophone songs from artists from all over the world. They used their French language skills to read and sing the song lyrics, learned new vocabulary words, and expressed their opinion about music. Once the tournament started, students voted for the song they liked best to help determine which song advanced to the next round. On Wednesday, some students dressed up as their favorite artist and the four classes gathered in the gym for an exciting final reveal celebration. While speaking French, students sang, danced, played guess the name of the song, and cheered.

United Way 211 Information Line - As we know life can be difficult for many of our residents at the best of times, but the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new layer of stress and anxiety for everyone. Information is changing rapidly. Demand for critical social services and community programs has increased and in many cases the way these supports are delivered has had to change. That's why the United Way launched the 211 Service in NB: to help every person find the support they need. 211 is free, confidential, and acts as the front door to support, helping people navigate the complex network of government, community and social programs and services quickly to find what they need for their unique situation. When someone contacts 211, they are connected with a real person who will ask questions about their situation and then suggest programs or services that can help. Often, they can be registered on the spot. This eliminates the stress of trying to wade through the changing information we are all processing each day.
Phones are answered 24/7 in 170 languages.
Whether you are looking for Government Resources, Mental Health Resources, Food Access Resources or Financial Relief Resources 211 can help you.
