In 2022, LAWA increased efforts to improve natural areas and protect local flora and fauna important to supporting biological diversity and natural functions. Restoration activities helped reduce the spread of invasive species and a new survey of the endangered El Segundo Blue Butterfly (ESBB) was conducted. LAWA continued to collaborate with the USDA to capture and safely relocate a variety of birds at LAX and VNY to prevent bird strikes. Natural Resources Management
