I was being driven when seemingly privileged folks toldme I couldn’t, because the world told me I couldn’t, because I didn’t have money, and I took all that and turned the power of you can’t into the power of “Hell yes I can!” I ended up going almost three years without losing one race on the pro circuit. It all culminated at the New England Championship (for people outside the country, New England is Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Massa- chusetts, and New Hampshire). This was a big deal. I was racing against the biggest teams in the country. TeamSki-Doo, TeamArctic Cat, all of them. There, where the beautiful tractor-trailers with teamnames on the side of them lined up, where each personwould have an extra snowmobile, they had pit crews, it was unlike any- thing I’d seen. It was like a NASCAR race for snowmobiles. I pulled up with two of my buddies in my Toyota pickup truck withmy five-year-old snowmobile in the back. I have to admit I was a little hungover because I went out the night before with my buddies to celebrate a birthday, ended up having a great time, and stayed out way too late.
