THE PRIVILEGED HAVE TO PLAN THEIR ACTIONS CAREFULLY When you are at the top of your game and everyone knows it, you have to be careful. You have a target on your back because everyone wants to be you, to take your spot. Yes, they are judging everything you do. You can’t just try new things because everyone is watching. As brutal as this may sound, if you mess something up, in more cases than we would like to believe, people see it and think less of you. Because of this, you have to plan your moves carefully. You have to make sure you know exactly what you’re doing before you do it. You have to take into consideration what others’ perceptions of your actions are, and most impor- tantly, you have to ensure that everything you do is or at least looks like “the right thing.” Testing new methods, trying new things, just having fun—that’s not as easy any- more. In many cases there is just too much at stake.
