Everyone thinks they want to be the top dog, but they don’t really understand how hard it is once you get there. How stuck you become, how hard it is to make progress, how learning and improving becomes exponentially harder, and how easy it is to stall and fail. As they say, when you are at the top, the only place to go is down. Except those who truly understand how to carry the underdog mindset with them through their entire lifetime and career. FISHING WITH COMPETITORS We got set up to trout fish and we were paired up in twos (I got paired with Lewis Howes). There were eight different spots to fish. There was a guide at each station, and each pair got twenty-five minutes at each of the eight fishing holes. They gave us a quick lesson, our little card to write down the type, size, and quantity of the trout we caught (and released) and then we were set up to start. This was the main competition of the weekend. All the other nonsense was small-time—whoever caught themost fish, the biggest fish, and the most variety won.

After Lewis realized we were chosen as partners, he lit- erally grabbed and hugged me to where my feet came off
