The score remained at 2-1 after two periods. The Hawks were able to get another goal in on the power play after seven minutes into the last period. At the 10-minutemark, Nicholas Brazeau got his second goal of the night to bring the score to 3-2. Again, the Vikings struggled to get past the wall in front of the Hawks’ net which they were unable to achieve. Sunday, February 1, the Vikings were in Akwesasne to face the Wolves. Again, the visitors had a hard time taking control of the game. The score was tied 2-2 after the first period. Alex St-Marsaille and Alex MacLean each scored for Casselman. The first intermission seemed good for Casselman with the Vikings rallying to score two unanswered goals during the play, one each from Taylor Widenmaier and Luc Forget.The score was 4-2 going into the third. The Wolves were able to get one past Vikings goalie Gianmarco DeMeis in the beginning of the period. Casselman replied fiercely with three consecutive goals by Alex St-Marsaille, Grant Hébert and Harrison Wood. The Vikings have three remaining games before the playoffs. They have already won the St-Lawrence division champion title and are now looking at taking the Rideau/ St-Lawrence champion title as well. Casselman has only one game this week. They face the Morrisburg Lions, this Thursday, February 5, at 7:30 p.n. at the J.R. Brisson complex.

Les Vikings pee-wee B de Casselman ont été couronnés champions du tournoi de hockey 2015 President’s Cup Challenge qui avait lieu à Toronto, du 23 au 25 janvier. Lors de la ronde préliminaire, l’équipe locale a écrasé les Jets deMetcalfe par le compte convaincant de 10-1. Ils ont ensuite blanchi les Tigers deThornton 5-0 en quart-de-finale. En demi-finale, les Vikings ont obtenu un verdict nul de 2-2 face aux Selects de Victoria Village. Ils ont affronté cette même équipe en grande finale. Les Vikings se sont emparés d’une victoire de 4-3. Ils ont ainsi remporté leur deuxième tournoi de la saison. Ci-dessus, on reconnaît Maxime- Olivier Cabana et DominicMeyerhans, à l’avant, ZacharyWardle, Yanic Lalonde, Hugo Lavictoire, Nathaniel Vinette, Jenna Ivanski et Justin Lafleur, au centre, ainsi que Jacob Leblanc-Poll, Marc Vinette, Claude Lalonde, Rachelle Baker, Simon Lavictoire, Vincent Gareau, Jonathan Baker et Luc Lafleur.

L’équipe de volleyball senior féminin, les Cyclones de l’École secondaire catholique Embrun, a fait bonne figure lors du Tournoi franco-ontarien qui se tenait àWhitby, près d’Oshawa, les 28, 29 et 30 janvier. L’entraîneur, Philippe Gaudreau, s’est dit satisfait de la performance de son équipe qui s’est inclinée en quart de finale contre l’école hôte Saint-Charles-Garnier, vainqueure de la médaille d’argent. «On s’est inclinée devant une forte équipe, a souligné l’entraîneur, et on a atteint nos objectifs.» L’équipe des Cyclones poursuit sa fin de saison dans Prescott-Russell et elle semble être en bonne position pour finir en beauté. Les Cyclones occupent la quatrième position du premier quart parmi les 13 écoles de Prescott-Russell. Katie Bellefeuille, Anaïs Leroy, Laura Corbeil (à l’avant), Andréane Allard-Blanchard, Vanessa Cornellier, Lexine Ménard, Laurence Gougeon, Destiny Pirnat, Elisa Lagacé et l’entraîneur Philippe Goudreau forment l’équipe de volleyball de l’ESCE.
