Les Nationals feront partie de la deu- xième ronde des séries éliminatoires. C’est devant une foule excitée, à l’aréna CIH de Rockland, que les joueurs des Nats ont réussi à démolir leurs rivaux, les Hawks de Hawkesbury, cinq à un, remportant le cinquième match de la série. Rockland a pu compter sur son efficacité en supériorité numérique afin de marquer à plusieurs reprises. Les Nationals ont été les premiers à marquer en première période. Matthew Vermaeten a compté en supériorité numérique. L’attaquant de Rockland, Benjamin Pru- neau, a lui aussi marqué en supériorité numérique, aidé de Simon Labelle. Les Hawks ont répliqué avec un but de Jérémie Lavallée. L’offensive des Nats a dominé en troi- sième période. Cole Craft, aidé de Simon Labelle et Pruneau, David Lafrance, aidé du capitaine Drew Shields et Griffin McGregor, ainsi que l’assistant-capitaine Josh Norma, aidé de Nicholas Wildgoose et Aidan Gra- ham, ont tous les trois marqué, le dernier but étant en supériorité numérique. Les Nationals avaient remporté les trois premiers matchs de la série, mais s’étaient inclinés lors du quatrième match. The Vankleek Hill Cougars need just one more win against the Clarence Creek Castors to claim the National Capital Junior Hockey League championship title. Last Friday evening’s series opener in Clarence Creek saw the Cougars dominate first and second periods with two goals each. The Castors scored a single point in first period then rallied in third with two unanswered goals, but could not get a fourth point to force the game into overtime. Scoring singles for the Cougars were Ryan Allen, Nikolas Ayotte, Justin Labrosse, and Jonathan Leblanc. Nathan Melée scored a pair of goals for Clarence Creek with Aiden Cannell tallying a point. Goal assists came from Matthew Clifford, Samuel Gaudet (number 2), Patrick Lemay, and Raphaël Payant. Corey Camirand was in the net for all three games. Saturday evening at the Vankleek Hill Arena saw both teams fail to score during first period. The Cougars punched in their goals during the second and third while the Castors didn’t get on the scoreboard until the final period. Scoring for the Cougars were Ryan Allen, Tyler Dopelhamer, and Zacharie Leblanc. Tyler Baker and Mickey George each scored a point for the Castors with Nathan Melée assisting on the goal-scoring. Sunday afternoon saw Jonathan Lacroix punch in two goals for the Cougars while GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca

The Rockland Nationals defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks on March 25 in front of their home crowd, five to one. They therefore won the series four to one. Ryan Allen and Nikolas Ayotte each scored singles and helped out on other goals. Other goal assists came from Hugo Blanchard, Nicolas Castonguay, Zakary Phaneuf, and Danny Plourde-Grenon, while Frederick Duro- cher guarded the net. Next game in the series is Saturday night, March 30, at the Vankleek Hill Arena. If needed, a fifth game will take place the following Sunday evening in Clarence Creek. The Rockland Field Archery Club recently organized its annual Indoor 3D tournament at the Jean-Marc Lalonde Arena. Over 130 participants took part in the event, some ailing as far as Maniwaki and Drummondville. Archers had a chance to shoot some well-placed arrows at a variety of targets, including fake animals and even a dinosaur.
