I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year as we start January 2024 off in style here in beautiful Palm Springs, California. Our weather has been outstanding, and our Resort is filling up quickly. I ’ m looking forward to another fun - filled season. I would like to remind you of the importance of promoting our wonderful Resort to your family, friends, and other “ RVers ”. I first heard of Outdoor Resort Palm Springs eight years ago while RVing in Fort Myers, Florida. While talking with newly found RV friends about travelling to the southwest the following winter, I was told I needed to checkout a beautiful RV resort in Palm Springs, California. Although we were considering southern Arizona, they strongly encouraged me to investigate ORPS and promised that I wouldn ’ t be sorry. My wife and I flew to Phoenix the next summer and spent several days exploring RV winter resorts in Arizona. We then drove a rental car to the Coachella Valley and visited a dozen resorts in southern California. After many hours of researching online, followed by many days of visiting the RV resorts that had made the “ short list ” of acceptable options, we chose ORPS. Now mind you, our intention was only to spend a few winter months here, but like so many others, we fell in love with ORPS and all it has to offer. We soon purchased a lot, and we feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful place to spend our winters. So please continue to tell others about our happy place here in the desert. You might never know how a conversation about Outdoor Resort Palm Springs could result in someone else coming to check it out! We are proud to call this amazing Resort our winter home - which we discovered because of a brief discussion that took place 2,500 miles away.

being improved, and generally has shown great creativity and versatility across all Departments. Serena Reeder, ORPS Lifestyle Manager, has consistently voiced her gratitude for the guidance and support of Abby in helping her to hit the ground running for the season. Finally, Abby is the epitome of “ Ladies & Gentlemen Serving . . . “ Please congratulate Crystal and Abby for the tremendous contributions they provide in maintaining the quality of life you enjoy while at the Resort.

What a year . . . I for one, am glad to see 2023 in the rear - view mirror! Now to make 2024 a hit! If you ’ re not in the Resort, I wish you safe travels back “ home. ” As most of you know, I ’ ve described the current staff as the best I ’ ve ever rubbed shoulders with in my almost 40 - year career. Responsible; Dependable; Caring; Enthusiastic; and Dedicated are just a few adjectives to describe them and I celebrate them, both individually and collectively. Along that line, the Annual Employee Appreciation Party was held on December 15 where two team members were recognized for their continued excellence. The process is this. Each Senior Staff (Department Head) member “ nominates ” an employee for Employee of the Year, which does not have to be from their department and describes the reason for their nomination. Typically, the Senior Staff are not eligible for such recognition. The General Manager then determines, in his sole discretion, to take the names in nomination and determines who is awarded the accolades.

Your Planning Committee is pleased that our first water dispenser machine has turned out to be a success. We are looking into acquiring a 2nd water machine. Until the current water machine serves 100 gallons of water per day a second machine will not come into the resort. After many years of owners requesting a cash machine, we now have one located just inside El Saguaro. The committee, and I think I can speak as well for the Tennis Committee, would all agree, how wonderful the Pergola shade structure turned out at the (Tennis Center Gathering Area). This space will be used by the tennis players during their events and will be open to all Owners at other times. The committee is currently working with the ORPS Board of Directors on the creation of a Strategic Long Range Plan for our Resort. We are using some preliminary strategic plans and surveys from 2017 and 2019. A new survey will be coming out and that data along with the data collected from the surveys of 2017 and 2019 and the McMahon Survey, will help to create some goals and objectives for our Resort. Lastly, along with some ongoing projects, our Board has asked the Planning Committee to jumpstart the process of renovating our restaurant.

The picture accompanying this article identifies them as Crystal Menard and Abby Lomeli . . . Crystal as Employee of the Year and Abby for Meritorious Commendation acknowledging her consistent assistance and versatility across the departments.

Crystal, who is pictured in the upper left of the shot, was first hired as a Mail Room team member in October 2021 and quickly showed her worth as she was elevated to the position of Supervisor. In early 2023, the position of Maintenance Dispatch was available, and she accepted it as a full - time position. Since then, she has since re - structured the Work Order system (Micro - Main), oversees the distribution of work to both the Maintenance and Landscape personnel, and has streamlined payment of invoices. She does the task with clear and concise communication and follow - up. I ’ m proud to name her as the 2023 Employee of the Year. Abby came to the Resort in July of 2020, right in the midst of the pandemic. Having just graduated from college, holding a degree in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations, Abby was the first to fill the newly Board - approved Communications Coordinator position. She had to take a new job description, with a rather new GM and improve and carve out new ideas, where some Board members doubted that hiring someone without “ experience ” could pull off. Besides creating the “ What ’ s Happening ”, which keeps Members updated during the off - season, Abby revamped the “ Daily Planner ”, and “ The Buzz ”, created a new website which is still

effect, depressing our property values. It already has on some busy streets. Doesn ’ t speeding save a lot of time? If you live at the far end of ORPS, speeding home (20mph) will save you about 90 seconds. A whole minute and a half! But along the way, you might piss off a lot of people. People tend to remember the cars of the repeat offenders, and that look they are giving you is not a warm hello. Cars traveling 20 mph seem really fast and dangerous when you are out walking the dog or biking around the Resort. Is a crackdown on speeders coming? My guess is yes, and maybe very soon. With our nearly full security staffing, ORPS can now get serious about traffic safety compliance. You remember the insurance increases that happened last year, raising our dues significantly. Most companies declined to even bid on our coverage, based on our loss history. All it takes is one accident, running someone down, killing or injuring, to cost the resort millions, especially where we are shown to be lax in enforcing the rules. Yes, driving at speeds below 15 mph can seem agonizingly slow. It's hard to keep some vehicles that slow. And after all, you are WASTING a minute and a half of your life. BUT, if you can, try not to be that 15% group of bad neighbors. The best advice I ever heard was to relax and pretend like you're in the Homecoming parade. Wave and smile at everybody. Your neighbors will smile and wave back, and the Resort will be that much nicer of a place to live.

ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT SPEED BUMPS One of the biggest complaints the Resort receives is speeding.

Your speeding questions, are answered below, in this FAQ:

How big a problem is speeding, really? Well, taking the eastern segment of Golf Course Drive, about 700 cars per day are moving at or below 10 mph. And over 1102 cars per day are speeding – but not too bad, keeping it below 15 mph. The rest, 308 per day, are dashing by, at between 16 and 28 mph. Where's the fire? That's around 30 cars per hour disrupting the calm. These are the problem kids. They are only 15% but are creating livability problems for the rest of us. How much traffic is there, anyway? The numbers are amazing. Looking at the eastern leg of Golf Course Drive, 2054 cars went by on a random Wednesday last February. 2054 cars in one day! That's a lot of cars. (Golf cars and bikes are included.) Is speeding really that dangerous, though? Well, your stopping distance is doubled, and that's if you have great reaction time. Longer, if you've got a few more miles on your personal odometer. And, after dark, visibility can be a problem in our very dark Resort. An injury accident at 20 mph vs 10 mph is way more lethal, statistically.

Dan Hannah Safety & Security Chair

But mostly, isn't speeding through the Resort a quality - of - life issue? Yes. It affects our neighborly chats, backing out of our lots, and in general our quality of life and relaxation here. On the busier roads, traffic can have a significant

There is a lot of stitchin ’ goin ’ on in the West Room. We quilt and sew for a variety of reasons. Quilting and sewing is an art form to show our creativity, creating brings joy. We also feel joy through the bond we share with each other within our sewing group. What do we do with it once it ’ s finished? We can keep it for ourselves, gift it to a friend or family member, or donate it. We would like to invite you to join us in the West Room Monday through Sunday from 8AM to 5PM if only for a look see. Each year we create beautiful quilts to be raffled off at the Ladies Luncheon held this year on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The ORPS Quilting and Sewing group has adopted the Shelter From The Storm, the Coachella Valley ’ s only domestic violence shelter, as a focused charity. Your support by purchasing raffle tickets helps us purchase the materials needed to make these quilts. Due to the generosity of the ORPS community we were able to send the Shelter From The Storm approximately $10,000 last season. Way to go ORPS! The Christmas donations have been delivered to The Shelter From The Storm. A big thank you to the ORPS Community for helping these families feel some sort of normalcy during very difficult times. Again, way to go ORPS! This year's charity raffle quilts are:

HAPPY NEW YEAR from the A&A team! We hope you had a great holiday, and we are looking forward to the new year. If you see what looks like a golf car parade with a lot of owners in blue vests fear not – it is the A&A Committee and our Members - in - Training ready to work with you to make your lot improvement project as easy and seamless as possible. While four or more of us arriving at one time may look intimidating, our veterans are training new members for the Committee. There is a lot to learn, and hands - on training is the best way to learn the ropes. By having a quorum on your lot in most cases we are able to approve the Permit at the time of our visit. This approach saves us time and allows you to get your project started as quickly as possible. I should also mention that we are still in the process of “ finalizing ” permits that were completed over the last 12 months so you may see the team reviewing the work so we can sign off and close the permit. As Owners it is our responsibility to be familiar with the rules and regulations that can be found on orps.com. These rules and regulations are in place to ensure a safe environment and that our lots can reflect our individual tastes while maintaining an acceptable aesthetics and architecture across the Resort. We are a unique blend of individuals that all desire a Resort we can be proud of. If you are contemplating any maintenance or improvements to your lot the first step is to determine if you need a permit before starting any work on your lot. NO WORK CAN START PRIOR TO A&A COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF YOUR PERMIT . Please contact Julia, our Compliance Officer, for assistance with your Permit application or to request a consultation with members of the A&A Committee. As a reminder if you are moving an existing trailer, stairs or doghouse within the Resort you may need a Permit depending on the circumstances. Please contact Julia and she can provide guidance for your specific situation. Lastly the first of the year is a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. And I would encourage every Owner to have at least one quality fire extinguisher readily available. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us. Thanks to everyone for your efforts to keep ORPS the beautiful Resort we all love and enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. We welcome 2024 — an even year. That means it ’ ll be an even better year than that odd one we just left behind. And it will be if everyone realizes and accepts that we ’ re here in ORPS to enjoy ourselves. We have a brilliant new Golf Coordinator who is keeping us in the 21st century. Even if you don ’ t golf, you should meet Tanner. Our tournaments and scrambles are under control and running smoothly. We could use a few more gamblers for our 50/50. That keeps your snacks flowing and food for the Saturday tournaments. Entry fees have not been increased for the past few years. In fact, they went down a dollar so everyone can participate in the hole in one pot. And speaking about HIOs. Has our course gotten that easy or are you golfers that good. We ’ re ordering bag tags like they ’ re going out of style. There were 3 made on opening day alone! Keep filling out those HIO forms. We want to acknowledge your accomplishment in the Oracle. Tanner is handling the ordering of bag tags, but if you have a question, you know where to find me. Selling 50/50 tickets! There are tournaments scheduled each month. You can check it out on the golf calendar that Tanner publishes for us. And they ’ re also listed on ForeTees. If you ’ re new to ForeTees, Tanner is here to help you and you can always bug Phil. He doesn ’ t like being called the “ techie ”, but he knows his stuff, esp. live scoring. Be sure to bring your cellphone so you can do live scoring. It makes the results more accurate and faster. You can also use our handicap system (GMN), not only to record scores during tournament play, but also your own round of golf. Hopefully your connection doesn ’ t drop. Oops. The Resort is working on upgrading the WIFI system, but live scoring works. We were unfortunate to lose two committee members. So, along with Mike Delaney, Phil Sanstrum, Diane Backer, Lydia Delaney, Larry Black and yours truly, we welcome Nick Paulsen and Karen Huckvale. In the meantime, enjoy your golfing. Respectfully submitted, Deanna Joe, Secretary, Golf Committee Memorial Corner: Walli died on July 29, 2023 at the age of 79, after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer. As a 16 - year owner at ORPS, she was very active in the golf community participating in Tuesday & Thursday scrambles and her much loved "Chix

So, we are off and running for our 2023 - 2024 Season at Outdoor Resort and it is already January - where does the time go? Well I hope some of that time goes to one of our two Golf Courses! The Big 18 and Small 9 are here for you to enjoy free of charge, just book a tee time with us at the Golf Shack and we will get you out there! The Big 18 is also the centerpiece of the Resort and is looking beautiful through the first two months of the year. We continue to fertilize and water to see new growth, as the golf course gets pretty beat up by the amount of play it sees on a daily basis. Our Players help keep our course beautiful a number of different ways. We have a popular 'Adopt a Green' program where members are assigned a green to watch over for the season by fixing ball marks. We have our Player Assistant program that will start to help with pace of play and the needs of the players during a round. We also have our 'Dog Chasers', owners with furry friends to keep the Geese at bay and away from eating up our course. Lastly, besides for filling in divots and fixing ball marks, members are becoming better at staying at least 30 feet away from the greens with a golf cart if a handicap cart is permitted. It may seem like a short season for our Members with all the different activities available, but it is a LONG season for our Golf Course as we will continue to see more and more play in the new year. So be kind to it and help out if you can - it may thank you by allowing a few more birdies or with a little luck, a Hole in One! All the best, Tanner Bown | “ The Golf Guy ”

CANAM 2024 is just around the corner.

Happy New Year The November Mixer was held on the 18th. There were 48 players that played on 5 courts. Wins were tracked, and winners were proclaimed and rewarded. The Wimbledon theme, complete with lunch on the lawn, was a hit. Thanks to Debi Vodvarka and the Tennis Committee for putting on the Mixer this month. Fun Fact: Wimbledon is the longest running tennis tournament. It started in 1877.

2023 Tennis Teams The December Fritters and Fun was held on the 2nd. This month's game was Team Tennis. It was a beautiful morning, and games moved quickly. With the rotation of the teams and the courts, players all got to play against each other at some point. Following play everyone went into La Palma for the apple fritters. The monthly General Tennis Meeting was held there. Court Maintenance Coordinator Brian Goltz reminded us of the importance of locking the satellite courts when we leave. This is especially true on B and F, where the ball machines are.

Come join us in January for the next Mixer which will be hosted by Kim and Bud Krahn.

50/50 was played, and Helen Glennie took the money home.

A drawing was held and 6 players got their $6 entry fee back.

Brian “ Sparky ” Farrell resumed his tennis drills, on Wednesday at 10:00 on court B. So much to learn or be reminded of, from beginner to advanced. Internal Leagues start this month and include Mixed Doubles, Team Tennis, Women's Top Gun, and Men's Top Gun. Sign ups close January 3. Email tennisorps@gmail.com for more info.

OUTDOOR RESORTS EARLY DAYS by Rita & Jeff Kurth In July, 1985, I received a call from Outdoor Resorts of America for a free weekend in Palm Springs. Since I knew it was too hot to visit in July, I asked what was the last weekend that we could go there, and they said October.

Here is the rental paper from that weekend in October 1985.

On the last day we were driven around in a golf cart with the ORA Rep, Jim Cunnelly. It did not take long to see the lots since only Phase 1 was mostly complete except for the lots along the west wall. Phases 2 and 3 were still being constructed and Phase 4 was not started. Here is a page from the promotional information we were given showing Phase 1 and Resort as it looked like in 1985.

The Ukulele Crew will again perform at VillageFest, on the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way, downtown Palm Springs on Thursday, February 15, 6:00 p.m. — 10:00p.m. Come out and support your resort strummers. Watch out for a Pop Out Ukulele Concert coming to your satellite in February. Check the Daily Planner for dates. The Ukulele Crew practices Saturdays and Wednesdays during the season. Beginner lessons, until January 13, are Saturdays, 1:00 p.m.— 2:00p.m., followed by All - Play for every level, 2:00 p.m.— 3:30 p.m. in the LP East Room. On Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m.— 3:30 p.m. is All - Play in the LP East Room. For more information contact Marilyn: marilyn.sabens@gmail.com

We really liked what we saw and decided to purchase lot 30 which had fallen out of escrow. We took possession on November 15, 1985. Here is the drawing of the lot dimensions. The first date we were able to use the lot was late 1985 and here is a picture of our lot at that time.

The Resort only had 9 golf holes open, and the starter was at the La Palma club- house. The crossroad that is there today was the end of the property with just a chain - link fence separating the property from the desert.
