Fireworks Spectacular - Celebrate 150 Celebrating the Ekka’s 150th anniversary, the all-new EkkaNITES Fireworks Spectacular will deliver one of the most ambitious and technically advanced pyrotechnic displays ever staged at the Brisbane Showgrounds, transforming the Main Arena into a fully immersive, 360-degree multi-dimensional experience. At the heart of the spectacle is a reimagined arena layout, featuring dual runway firing lines extending across the arena; a towering Scissor Lift Pyro Tower delivering elevated aerial effects; and mobile firing platforms integrated into live arena action. The show will also see the return of spectacular pyro kites, not seen at the Ekka since 2017, creating a dramatic visual effect as illuminated kites trail sparks across the night sky. Quad bikes, vintage-style bikes and sidecars will also be incorporated into the show, carrying pyrotechnic effects through the arena and adding speed, movement and danger to the performance. The entire display is synchronised to a diverse soundtrack, celebrating Queensland and Australian music icons in a high- energy, contemporary production designed to engage all generations. Returning to deliver the 2026 spectacular is Queensland-based pyrotechnics company Skylighter Fireworks, renowned for their large-scale event expertise and innovative design. Their approach blends cutting-edge firing technology with creative storytelling, ensuring a seamless integration between fireworks, music and live performance. Further elevating the experience is the support of Queensland- based lighting specialists High Impact Lighting (Ash Neuendorf), whose dynamic lighting design will amplify every moment of the show. Through powerful beam work, colour washes, movement and precision timing, lighting will extend the fireworks beyond the sky, bringing depth, energy and atmosphere across the entire arena. The combined effect will create a fully immersive environment where fire, light, music and motion work together as one, delivering a truly spectacular, all-senses experience for audiences.
