WE ARE HERE TOHELP!

Whether you have neck pain or have been suffering for a long time, seeing a physical therapist at Applied Physical Medicine can help you return to a more active and pain-free life. Give us a call at (520) 296-8513 today! Water has been shown to help with inflammation, but also to keep our immune system robust. We sourced cases and cases of water to donate to Tucson families, but we also have bottles of water in the office to give to clients. Seriously, stop by, grab a few bottles and we will help you stay healthy. All in all, the world, the United States, Arizona, Tucson, you and I are all experiencing a very challenging situation. APMwill remain open as taking care of your vertigo, your musculoskeletal injuries and your chronic niggles and aches, help you stay healthy. If you are moving better, your immune system is stronger and if you unfortunately contract COVID-19, you will be more likely to fend it off. Due to this, we are doing almost all treatments with just the physical therapist in 1 of our 9 private treatment rooms, we are donning masks and following the strictest CDC sanitation standards.

Hello APM Family, Well, we are all into quarantine and learning to appreciate things in a whole new way. For example, I have taken up Bike Riding and landscaping. Bike riding has kept me active, and I have lost a little bit of weight, while landscaping has helped with a sense of accomplishment. I just finished creating a rock wall for a new wild sunflower garden. Additionally, I purchased a Rubik’s cube, and plan to be a master when this COVID-19 quarantine is all over. As you know, we at APM are very interested in the community of Tucson. Not only are we the number 1 physical therapy clinic in Tucson, but we also do FREE workshops for the community at APM, as well as at various facilities around town. Due to our commitment to the people of Tucson, we have started to deliver food, water, and provide remote physical therapy services. As far as food, we partnered with a local Tucson Business, Stay Naked Kitchen. We had tons of food made and placed into reusable containers. It was very important that we are providing exceptional value to our town. By value, I mean wanted the food to be exceptionally healthy and free of pesticides and antibiotics. As you know, healthy food can help bolster our immune system to fight this nasty virus. We then dispersed these ready-made, fully organic meals all throughout Tucson. Check out how happy Lee and Matt Look. Really, look at their smiles!!!

If you need us for ANYTHING, we are here, (expect a checkup call soon).

NECK PAIN 101

In many situations, pain that develops in the neck can be associated with one of two major problems. The first is upper-back pain that begins to radiate into the neck. The second is arthritis. Physical therapy can be used to address both types of neck pain. Cervical arthritis causes frequent aches in the neck and shoulders. This pain is generally worse when there are sudden changes in weather or at the end of the day, and while over-the-counter medication may make the pain less severe, it won’t eliminate the pain entirely. The biggest problem posed by cervical arthritis is that the pain will typically cause a loss of range of motion in the neck, which actually increases your risk of injury as a result of a sudden movement and causes regular discomfort and frustration as you are not able to utilize your neck in the way you normally could. There are plenty of situations in which pain in the neck as a result of cervical arthritis grows so severe that it can cause chronic poor posture and even a reduction in height. Addressing the Core Problem. The majority of neck and head pain can be helped with one simple strategy: strength building. It frequently happens that the absolute cause of the start of a pain in the neck or head is a result of poor posture or quickened motion, and building core strength, as well as strength in the neck, can make a huge difference in your ability to handle tasks without experiencing chronic pain.

Keep in mind that the neck and head are sensitive areas, so attempting to treat the pain at home can be dangerous and may not be effective. Working with a physical therapist is the safe way to ensure that you are practicing positive techniques to find relief from your aches and pains.

DISCOVER PAIN RELIEF WITH LASER THERAPY Hello PT family, Dr. Noah here. In this month’s newsletter, we are obviously discussing ways to take care of yourself during these uncertain times. At APM we are following the strictest CDC guidelines, with the use of gloves, masks, Centers for Disease control sanitation standards and daily CDC questionnaire filling out by all patients and employees. This all being said, we are offering discounted laser sessions during this difficult time. As you know by now, if you have read any of our information, laser is a modality that decreases pain, and increases the body’s ability to heal. The liteforce litecure class 4 laser uses a very cool process called ‘photobiomodulation’ to stimulate an analgesic (pain reducing) response where ever the laser is used. The fact that it speeds up healing and increases the mobility of these tissues is an extra benefit. Laser can be utilized without ever having any contact. This is an exceptionally valuable tool when most

people are concerned with COVID-19 and we want to minimize as much risk as possible. Personally, I use the laser every week ( 1-3x) on various body parts and it has been a lifesaver at times. I have found that utilizing the laser at least 1x/wk has diminished my chronic knee pain by about 40% when I commit to it. I would like to personally invite you into APM if your pain is 6/10 or worse for A COMPLIMENTARY LASER SESSION and see if we can manage your pain for you during the Coronavirus pandemic. You will be safe, and as you know, WE ARE YOUR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS.
