ULSTER HOSPITAL LAUNDRY

Fulton VSRT60 boilers supplied by Energeia Technologies.

STEAM BOILERS ENERGEIA TECHNOLOGIES SUPPLIED AWARD-WINNING VRST FULTON STEAM BOILERS AND ANCILLARIES SUCH AS HOTWELL FEED TANKS, SOFT WATER TANKS AND BLOWDOWN SYSTEMS DURING THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE LAUNDRY…

E nergeia Technologies is an industrial steam and controls specialist company that provides solutions for all steam, heat exchanger and process control applications. They represent several world-class engineering manufacturers, including Fulton UK, which specialises in the design and manufacture of fuel-fired and electric steam boilers, thermal fluid heaters and skid-mounted systems for industrial, commercial and medical applications. For the Ulster Hospital Laundry project, Energeia supplied three Fulton VSRT60 highly efficient steam boilers. The VSRT boilers are optimised with PURE technology, feature low NO x emissions and are built to last as a reliable source of clean steam. With a kW rating of 100 - 600kW, a 160 - 960 kg/h steam output (F&A 100°C) and operating pressure of 10.34 BarG, the boilers feature fully- wetted pressure vessels and the smallest

carbon footprint in the industry. With so many industry-leading efficiencies, it is no wonder the VRST boiler has received a number of excellence awards in the UK, including the Gas Engineers and Managers’ (IGEM) Gas Industry Awards, the Food Processing Awards and the Laundry & Dry Cleaning Awards, which recognises exceptional products and services in the laundry and dry cleaning industry. “The PURE Technology approach adopted for the VSRT aims to enhance heat transfer, provide class-leading efficiencies, improve steam quality and reduce NO x emissions,” commented Carl Knight, Managing Director at Fulton UK. “Rather than simply try to improve existing products to achieve these goals, PURE Technology challenges the industry status quo on conventional boiler design by engineering solutions that are fit- for-purpose and fully optimised for all

applications.”. Energeia Technologies also provided the boiler house with ancillaries to be installed with the boilers. They included a boiler soft water 2,000-litre stainless steel tank, a hot well deaerator with a 3,000-litre tank, level controls and steam injection. The installation also included a steam boiler blowdown vessel to deal with the high-pressure boiler drains. The project encompassed an extensive renovation and expansion of the laundry facilities at one of Belfast’s major hospitals, with a full mechanical building services installation led by R&F Mechanical. It was Energeia Technologies’ first time working with the contractor, and Director Gerry Smith commented the project was a very positive experience, “It was very nice to work with industry professionals. Working alongside R&F, no request was too much trouble and there were no issues.”
