Lucas Collective now has a portfolio of restaurants that includes some of Melbourne’s most beloved.
Few people understood that better than Chris Lucas, himself the son of a Greek immigrant. His father arrived in Australia in the 1930s, and Lucas grew up around hospitality in the family pub, down by the wharves in Geelong. Although he studied pharmacy and worked for IBM, he felt the pull to food and hospitality. He opened his first venue in 1995, and Lucas Collective now has a portfolio of restaurants that includes some of Melbourne’s most beloved – Chin Chin, Society, Yakimono, Grill Americano, Kisumé, Hawker Hall and Baby, among them.
