PSY 701 COLLEGE TEACHING OF PSYCHOLOGY (2)

A seminar on teaching methods including the development of course objectives, outlines, lectures and evaluations. Major emphasis is placed on an examination of the various teaching methods available to the teacher of psychology. Elective. PSY 703 ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (1) A seminar dealing with administrative issues such as personnel , finances , commun­ ity relations, and supervision. Elective . PSY 704 ADVANCED RESEARCH DESIGN (3) A continuation of PSY 601 for students interested in pursuing dissertation research. Course will include advanced study of univariate and multivariate analysis of var­ iance, regression analysis, canonical and discriminant analysis, and factor analysis. Required for Ph.D. students. Prerequisite: PSY 601 PSY 705 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY (1 or 2) A general overview of current research on the use and effectiveness of psychotropic medication in the treatment of the psychoses, neuroses, and other emotional disor­ ders. Consultation and class presentation by area psychiatrists. Elective. PSY 707 PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL PROCESSES (3) An introduction to psychophysiological and neural mechanisms in their relation to mind-body processes, to the production of psychosomatic symptoms and diseases, and to origins of psychopathology. Elective. PSY 711 SEMINAR IN ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES (1 or 2) A study of the ethics of professional psychology and relationships to other profes­ sional individuals and organizations. Special attention is given to the American Psy­ chological Association's Code of Ethics. Elective. PSY 712 INDEPENDENT STUDY (1-4) Individual work, directed reading, or special problems in professional psychology. Students should consult faculty members prior to registration to submit a course proposal and to determine whether or not arrangements can be made for an inde­ pendent study. Required courses may not be taken through independent study. PSY 721 DISSERTATION RESEARCH (1-18) Planning and implementation of a research project including literature review, prob­ lem definition, hypothesis formation , design, and implementation of field research, data analysis, and report writing. The first unit of dissertation study for Ph.D. stu­ dents is a required seminar in psychological bibliography. (see PSY 650). PSY 731 INTERNSHIP IN PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY Professional experience in an internship facility approved by the Professional Train­ ing Committee. Prerequisites: Successful completion of comprehensive examinations, course re­ quirements, professional qualifying examination, and dissertation proposal. 45
