In addition to their academic classes, Cathedral boys receive a well-rounded experience, rich in spirituality, the arts, athletics, and service. This allows boys to get to know themselves and the world around them. In Chapel, boys spend time in quiet reflection while listening to the wisdom of peers and teachers. They are given the space and time to think about their place in the bigger world. Traditions from many religions are shared and celebrated. Every boy takes P.E. every day. Art, Design & Engineering, and music and performing arts are integrated into each boy’s week. Boys perform on stage at least once each year. We have a robust instrumental music program, and a number of our boys participate in the world- renowned Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys. In the Upper School, nearly every boy participates on at least one school athletic team. Our commitment to service is embedded in our School’s Mission. When students commit to supporting organizations of purpose and demonstrate commitment by performing ongoing service, they enjoy meaningful experiences with different communities, develop leadership skills, and see the importance of civic participation. Our location in the heart of San Francisco allows us to maintain service partnerships with neighboring organizations of great importance to our beloved city.
