Chop Saw Use
AT-RISK CHOP SAW USE
SAFE CHOP SAW USE
• The above example, the Engineer is keeping his hand away from the travel of the blade. • When cutting small pieces, consider using clamps to hold the wood in place. • Keep your eyes on task at all times, and do not allow yourself to be distracted when cutting. • You cannot see it in the photograph, but the clear retractable blade guard is in place. DO NOT use a chop saw that does not have a functioning retractable blade guard in place.
• When using a chop saw, keep your fingers away from the blade. • In the example above, the Engineer is holding the wood too close to the blade. If he misjudges his hand position, his fingers can be cut, or if the blade binds on the wood, his fingers can be pulled into the blade and cut.
