AT-RISK GRINDER USE
SAFE GRINDER USE
• This is much better. The Engineer took the time to put on his face shield and gloves. • He adjusted the tool rest to be within 1/8 inch of the grinding wheel and the upper tongue to be within ¼ inch of the grinding wheel. • He did a ring test on the grinding wheel. • He has his eyes on task and is not distracted. • The grinder is bolted to the workbench for stability. • The task light above provides good lighting to see the work.
• In the example above, the Engineer is in a hurry and did not put his face shield on. • He is not wearing gloves in the event the metal on which he is grinding becomes hot. • He did not do a ring test on the grinding wheel to make sure it does not have any cracks which can cause it to explode. • You cannot see it, the tool rest is NOT within 1/8 inch of the grinding wheel and the upper tongue within ¼ inch of the grinding wheel.
