Powered Slicer Safety
• Powered slicers are important tools in any kitchen and we use them every day in many ways. Slicers are safe to use if you handle them properly but can be dangerous and cause serious injury if you take short cuts or are careless. • As a dangerous tool, you are not to use the powered slicer unless trained to do so safely. When operating a slicer, consider the following: • All guards must be in place before operating the slicer. • Always use the food pusher tool, not your hand, when operating the slicer. • Zero out the blade when you are done and the powered slicer is not in use. • Make sure the power is off and the power cord plug has been removed from the outlet.
Use a Cut Resistant Glove
• Before using the power slicer, place a cut resistant glove on the hand on the cutting side, usually the right hand. • Place a nitrile glove over the cut resistant glove for food safety to prevent illnesses. • Use cut resistant gloves on both hands when cleaning the blade in place or disassembling the machine.
