Scope
Catering and AV Operations: accessing banquet ballroom electrical floor panel.
POLICY: Applies to anytime any staff member of our catering, audio visual or engineering department need to access the electrical floor panels in the hotel’s ballroom. The following procedures need to be followed and all staff members working in the following department – catering, audio visual or engineering department need to have documented training before they can perform this task. The SOP training sheet needs to be signed off by associate, Director of Events, Director of Audio Visual and AGM. All new hires will be trained on process during orientation. PROCEDURE: Anytime that the electrical floor panels need to access by a staff member due to set up of electrical needs by the hotel staff or by a request of a hotel guest or vendor the following steps need to be followed 1. Determine what access panel needs to be opened. 2. Retrieve 3-sided safety barrier (pictured below) before opening any of the floor panels. 3. Set up 3-sided safety barrier around the floor panel to provide access to only one side. 4. Once power needed is set up the floor panel can be closed and secured. The safety barrier can be removed after this. 5. Staff must ensure that all cords are secured and taped down to avoid any trip hazards. 6. At no time are staff, guest or vendors allowed to access the electrical panels without following the steps outlined above.
