Scope

Effectively maintain, inspect, and replace carbon monoxide detection equipment

PURPOSE: This document was prepared to provide the tools to effectively maintain, inspect, and replace, when due, all carbon monoxide detection equipment. The below is a minimum standard. All branded hotels must follow all brand specific SOPs. All hotels must operate at the local level with compliance to the AHJ. REQUIREMENTS: • 120-volt, hard-wired, battery back-up carbon monoxide detector is to be in place at all-natural gas/propane burning locations in accordance with local, federal, and state laws . • The detector shall have an integrated test button and local sounder and shall be connected to an unswitched power source. The preference is to have audible voice announcement in addition to the sounder. • Replace battery and tag carbon monoxide date of battery change. Models with lithium long- life batteries are recommended. • At five years, replace carbon monoxide detector and tag first battery install. DOCUMENTATION: Written records of visual inspections and tests are to be recorded in the Mintek Transcendent system and be available for review upon demand by AH corporate personnel or other agencies or authorities having jurisdiction.
