– Work with their National Trainer mentor to set appropriate development goals for their time as an Instructor-Member- In-Training – Ensure that they gain experience of delivering all four sessions of the course and all sections of the session plan across their sign-off co-deliveries – Proactively book time in with their mentor for their follow-up conversations as required by their individual sign-off requirements – Be open to constructive feedback, advice, and supportive guidance provided by their mentor – Take appropriate actions in line with feedback and guidance from the mentor to support improved course delivery practice – Be proactive and responsive in their communications with their mentor – It is expected that the Instructor- Member-In-Training will respond to communications from their mentor as soon as possible, and at the latest within five working days – Where the mentee is on holiday or uncontactable for long periods of time (over one month), they should set an out of office outlining the expected response time – Provide the mentor with all their learner feedback and detailed self-reflections on their two co-deliveries via the Instructor Portfolio sections on the Online Learning Hub. (Send learner feedback via email to mentor for Youth only) – Seek and obtain approval from the mentor first before proceeding to solo deliver a course and then provide the mentor with learner feedback and detailed self-reflections for their solo

delivery via the Instructor Portfolio sections on the Online Learning Hub. (Send learner feedback via email to mentor for Youth only)

Mentoring activities and conversations should be conducted at mutually convenient times for both the mentor and mentee. Informal mentor/mentee conversations should be a reasonable length and frequency for both the mentor and mentee. A formal mentoring session should not exceed one hour in duration. We recommend agreeing a set duration and topics/focus of conversation that you need to cover within this allocated time in advance. If a National Trainer cannot continue with their mentoring commitments due to exceptional circumstances, they should first contact the Training Delivery team. 8.7 Instructor- Members-In-Training sign-off deliveries Where an Instructor-Member-In-Training encounters an issue with unexpectedly being unable to co-deliver their scheduled codelivery course during the sign-off period, they must in the first instance contact the Training Delivery team for further guidance on next steps. In some extenuating circumstances, where the co-deliverer is unexpectedly unavailable for the co-delivery, at relatively short notice, with prior approval from MHFA England, it may be possible for the Instructor-Member-In- Training to solo deliver the course if deemed appropriate in that particular instance.
