OUTDOOR RESORT PALM SPRINGS Membership Survey Vision/Mission Statements/Core Values Page 18

206. PREMIER RV Resort is not a term identified in any rating agencies that I have seen and used on the internet. There is a star system used worldwide that is more meaningful and relative across the board. STRIVE is like using the word 'hope' in an action. There is nothing in the word that indicates accountability and determination that we WILL offer the best that can be experienced. Financially STABLE - does this mean Fiscally Responsible? Core Values are lacking TRANSPARENCY and CORROBORATION. 207. Innovation? What are we being innovative about, and why is innovation important? Each of the core values (except innovation, which I'm confused by), sound great, but I'm not sure we are close to reaching them. 208. The vision statement contains a great deal of subjective verbiage that means nothing unless there is a clear understanding of the underlying criteria. The aspect of "financially stable operations" is more concrete. We get there by prioritizing where we spend our money. Hopefully, all members of the community have meaningful methods of participating in the decisions which determine these priorities. NOT just as an "exercise in futility". 209. Vision & Mission Statements and Core Values became popular in corporations during the 1980's but soon proved to be a complete waste of time. Organizations did not change their behaviours because of them. It's not rocket science to realize that every organization wants to be five-star but the question is, what are you going to do and what are you willing to pay to make it that way? List the agreed action items for each year and just focus on doing those things well. 210. We need to significantly increase the HOA dues and invest in ORPS. The dues are way below market for this type of facility. With additional funds, we could make improvements to many of the "tired" buildings. Premier resorts do not allow for dogs to urinate in common areas. 211. I think there is a need to try to define what excellence as an RV resort means. Not that it be part of the vision but rather than we can all evaluate how progress is being made or are we there yet. 212. Vision Statement - it is impossible to create a positive social culture for all. Mission Statement - Demonstrate by example honesty to help improve the community. Core Values - Be willing to change with the times as opposed to innovation. 213. Quality of life and foster a sense of community is great but some people think they can bully people around because they have been here a while. Mostly at LP. Tennis events. 214. These statements seem to focus on what the Board and Management would provide. I think something about 'customer service' should be added to include all the staff and the contribution they should be making to fulfill the mission. 215. Maintaining Excellent Services - perhaps it’s time to back off on Capital Projects & put greater share of money into maintenance i.e., satellite laundry washers & dryers, hot tubs & pool systems, decks etc. 216. Activities and amenities should be for all groups and ages. Even some directed for kids.
