later bought a laminator that now allowed the com- pany to print, laminate, slit and convert. “Doing everything under one roof allows us to bring efficiencies to our customers,” said Guida.“And the new press allows us to realize one of our primary goals for Diamond, which is that we are a great con- verter that has the capacity of a large converter but the service of a smaller business.” As for the future, Guida sees his company’s relation- ship with Uteco expending and taking Diamond into increasingly versatile and profitable areas.“I’d like to go deep with Uteco,” Guida said.“As Uteco’s technol- ogy helps us expand and grow, we’ll turn to them for future equipment additions and upgrades.” Guida is quick to point out, however, that technolo- gy alone cannot be expected to guide a company to success. For Diamond, it’s all about the people. “We have a great core of people with a tremendous amount of experience,” said Guida.“I truly value them and their ingenuity. Our press operators are artisans. They were trained on 20-year-old machines. No mat- ter how much automation you have, operators must know what happens when they press the button.” There’s also no substitute for passion. “Diamond’s employees are driven to provide the best for our cus- tomers,” Guida said. “We have unparalleled quality control; since everyone is focused on doing every- thing right the first time we have next to no returns. When we discussed installing a new press, everyone added their input and their excitement to the pro- ject. When it comes to growing the company our phi- losophy is simple:We are all in.” Uteco Installs Presses At Four Midwest Converters Uteco continues to see great activity in the U.S. midwest with four recent installations. The company installed an Onyx 108 at Diamond Flexible Packaging in Northbrook, Illinois. Additionally, Vonco Products in Trevor, Wisconsin, installed an Onyx 808, NCL Graphics Specialties, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, installed an Onyx XS, and Sharp Packaging, Sussex,Wisconsin, purchased a second Onyx 808 press. Uteco To Host Open House In Italy Uteco will host an open house, October 25 in Verona, Italy, which will showcase the company’s MISTRAL MV press and its new Digital Printing Press.
