Throughout 2025/26, NPC has maintained a strong focus on IPAC, ensuring that policies, procedures, and practices remain up to date and reflective of current national guidance. Regular audits are undertaken across services, with findings used to inform action plans and continuous improvement. These audits are supported by a structured assurance framework, including clear reporting and monitoring arrangements.
Staff are supported through ongoing training and access to specialist infection prevention advice, enabling them to maintain high standards of hygiene and clinical practice. Key areas of focus include hand hygiene, safe management of clinical waste, environmental cleanliness, and infection prevention within clinical procedures. NPC also continues to promote a culture of safety and accountability, where infection risks are actively identified, managed, and escalated where necessary. Lessons learned from incidents or audit findings are shared across teams to support organisational learning and drive improvements.
This ongoing commitment ensures that NPC remains compliant with national standards and continues to provide safe, high-quality care within all service settings. 3.3 Audit - Clinical and Administrative A structured, forward-looking audit schedule is in place for the 2026/27 period, with quarterly audits across all service areas, including infection prevention and control, clinical documentation, patient experience, incident management, and workforce compliance. This approach supports a proactive culture of continuous improvement, learning, and accountability across the organisation. During the 2025/26 reporting period, we completed 49 audits, an increase from 45 in 2024/25 and 19 in 2023/24, reflecting a strengthened assurance approach. All audit findings are reported to the Quality and Safety Committee and contribute to Board-level assurance, ensuring continuous monitoring of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
