Afterword Dr Joseph Spence

I t is a great honour to have had the opportunity to edit another issue of our illustrious school magazine, albeit that I continue to see my engagement at this level as a temporary phenomenon. I want the boys to take over the running of what is at its best when it is their journal of reflections on and from Dulwich. In the course of this year my work has been as a commissioning Editor, nosing out snippets of College life and encouraging boys and staff to reflect on these in a way that I hope interests you and informs posterity. The hard editorial work has been undertaken by Mr Rory Fisher, who will be the master in charge of Alleynian 703 . I am grateful to Mr Fisher for his assiduous work to date. I am grateful too to our Section Editors, who have expended great effort and taken due pride in showing off some of the accomplishments of the boys working in their areas of school life. But we are all committed to the idea of the boys being at the forefront of every aspect of the production of their magazine and the new Senior Prefects with responsibility for the arts have shown a keen interest in ensuring when you read the editorial or afterword for Alleynian 703 you find that pupils have commissioned more and written more, and that a distinctive and contemporary Alleynian flavour permeates the magazine.
