Roles and Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning • Responsible for the development and management of the engineering services infrastructure strategies and their integration with the College’s development plans. • Take a leading role in engaging with local authorities, utility companies and other regulatory bodies where required to obtain consents, plan, coordinate and implement engineering services related strategies in support of the College’s development objectives. • Responsible for the implementation of the College’s engineering services infrastructure strategies in conjunction with the individual project delivery teams. There is a particular focus on White City infrastructure given the scale of construction activity. • Responsible for liaising with colleagues to ensure that the building services design principles align with the site wide and/or utilities services strategies. • Liaise with the ICT Network Infrastructure Team to ensure that the development of the College’s IT infrastructure services is integrated with the overall infrastructure strategies. • Identify and work with all stakeholders in relation to engineering services infrastructure delivery including end users, project teams and campus/building management teams. • Assist in managing the selection of contractors and consultants for projects, in line with College procurement requirements; brief and manage consultants, monitor their progress and performance, agree invoices and authorise payments. • Attend strategic programme/project meetings as necessary to ensure that engineering

services infrastructure strategies are factored into key programming/project decisions. • Responsibility for managing the procurement of utility services. • Responsible for ensuring that the relevant legal agreements are in place to protect and secure the College’s position including appointing and instructing the College’s legal advisors. Operational Management • Manage/co-ordinate the activities of the appointed Masterplan engineering services consultants, including co-ordinating the input of the Estates, Maintenance, Engineering, Energy and Environment, Sustainability and ICT Teams • Plan own resources to ensure optimum delivery • Manage and direct those internal resources that are assigned, either on a temporary or permanent basis, to assist in the delivery of the Roles and Responsibilities set out in this Job Description. • Lead the delivery of those services infrastructure projects as assigned by the Head of Masterplanning White City. • Assist in the development and management of procedures that ensure that agreed strategies and standards are applied in a flexible manner that supports the delivery of cost effective installations • Consult with the Head of Engineering, Energy and Environment to ensure that engineering services infrastructure strategies and standards are agreed that align with, and support, the College’s environmental strategies • To act as a role model for Imperial’s Values and Behaviours Expectations and equal opportunities.
