Price served two years in the United States Army prior to entering the workforce. He later worked for 34 years in the Gary Community School Cor- poration as teacher and coach until his retirement in 2001. At Roosevelt High School, Price served as assistant coach in football, wrestling and track and later became the school’s head coach in foot- ball and track & field respectively. A Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi and longtime member of the Gary (IN) Alumni Chapter, Price served the fra- ternity in various roles including North Central Province (NCP) Historian, NCP Board of Directors, NCP Reporter, Gary (IN) Chapter Polemarch among others. He also held memberships in the Roosevelt Alumni Association, AFT Teachers Union, Indiana Football Coaches Association, and Cross Country and Track & Field Association. A mem- ber of Van Buren Baptist Church for over 60 years, Price served as a deacon in the trustee ministry and as a member of the church choir. He is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren Jorden and Arielle Randolph. He is survived by wife and silhouette of 56 years, Joan, daughters Angela (Joel) Moore; Anita (Charles) Randolph; grandson Charles Christian Randolph and host of rela- tives, friends and former students.

During his sophomore year, his football career ended when he sustained a neck injury. Not willing to give up his love of sports, he became a member of the OSU bas- ketball team and lettered in basketball. As an OSU student, he was a charter member of Zeta Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi®. Following graduation from OSU, he began his career working for Sears in the Management Training Program. He worked for Sears for 14 years as Opera- tions Manager. He continued his career as an Area Merchandise Manager for a major beer distributorship in Dallas, TX and later as a Regional Operations Manager for a hotel chain. He was a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and received his 50-year member jacket and pin in May of 2018. He also served his community on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Urban League and the Black Museum in Dal- las. He also worked on the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce. He served as a member of the Concord Church in Dallas, TX. He was passionate about giving back to the community which resulted in the formation of the Manual Training High School Alumni Scholarship fund in 2010. Over $16,000 in scholarships have been awarded to deserving African American college bound graduates from Muskogee High School. His love for golf took him all over the country where he played on some of the best courses in the nation. He served on the committee with the PGA to start “First Tee” for young golfers. He served as the President of the Southwest Re- gional Golf Associations for eight years. He participated in the East West Golf tournament in Phoenix Arizona for over 25 years which provided millions of dol- lars in minority scholarships for college bound golfers. He attended historic North Carolina A&T University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1980. He subsequently earned a J.D. degree from American University, Washington College of Law, in 1987. While in law school, he served as law clerk on the United States Senate Judiciary Commit- tee for U.S. Senator Storm Thurmond (R-SC). After college, Rev. Dr. Simmons served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Intelligence Officer attaining the rank of captain. In 1985, Rev. Dr. Simmons became a certified agent of the National Football League ® . In 1987, he started Simmons Law Firm, Inc. His firm specialized in entertainment law with his most famous client, the late legendary soul singer James Brown. He later co-founded with Brothers Carl B. Grant (Alpha Lambda 1980) and Roder- ick E. Edmond (Pi 1980) the law firm of Grant, Edmond and Simmons. From 1998 to 2005, he served as an Assistant Municipal Judge for the city of Aiken, SC.
