HPR Treatment Centers - July 2019

RETURNING TO NORMAL Sarah Muir Shares Her HPR Treatment Centers Experience Sarah Muir admits she has always had slight depression, but when she and her husband moved from New York to Florida in September 2018, her depression deepened. From small everyday occurrences to big obstacles, like when her husband broke his back, Sarah was struggling. “Everything went wrong,” Sarah remembers. “I’ve been to the hospital nine times since September. I was crying every day; it was awful. I said to my husband, ‘I have to get help.’” Hailing from Scotland 46 years ago, Sarah says she knew it was dire that she find help for her depression for just the second time. Her pursuit of guidance led her to discover Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy and HPR Treatment Centers of Ormond Beach. At that point, Sarah says anything was worth trying, and she made her first appointment. “Just going to visit them made me feel better,” Sarah says. “Holly, Ken, Brandon, and Larry — I just love them. I really enjoyed going to see them every day.” During her first visit, Sarah cried through the appointment, but, eventually, she would spend her minutes in the chair each day chatting with Brandon, she recalls. “I didn’t sleep. I’m too noisy,” Sarah says with a laugh. “It really was absolutely 100% worth it.” Since she finished treatment, Sarah cannot stop telling others about her experience. By sharing with friends in New York and commenting on the HPR Treatment Centers’ Facebook page, Sarah has become one of the biggest advocates for TMS therapy. She has even helped new patients ease into their treatments by sharing her story and experience. But Sarah’s advocacy isn’t all talk; she says HPR Treatment Centers of Ormond Beach and TMS therapy brought some normalcy back to her life. She and her husband have returned to regularly going to the theatre, and Sarah is embracing the parts of her life that depression made hard to enjoy.

RELAX IN THESE COOL DESTINATIONS THIS SUMMER

As the scorching summer sun beats down, it’s hard to remember that just six months ago you were shivering through the winter, whether that meant a chilly 50 degrees F or bitter subzero temperatures. But if cooler temps sound like paradise, and a dip in the pool is no longer keeping you cool, it might be time to take a vacation somewhere chilly. Check out these three destinations to avoid the summer heat. ALASKA No place says chilly quite like Alaska. Trips to Alaska can be expensive during this time of year, but when you step into that crisp air with a cool mountainous view, you’ll understand why it’s a popular summer voyage. Travelers can choose to fly or take a cruise ship, and many cities feature tourism- packed excursions. A few notable locations include Anchorage, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, and Denali National Park and Preserve. ICELAND Just as its name suggests, Iceland can be the perfect destination for travelers yearning to get away from the unbearable summer heat. With temperatures rarely exceeding 60 degrees F — the average high for the country — packing is easy for this relaxing vacation. Take a relaxing dip in one of the country’s many hot springs or enjoy tremendous views of the fjords. Even better, you can tour the country at any time because it’s sunny almost 24 hours a day. What could be better than a midnight hike around the fourth happiest country in the world? APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS Looking for something a little closer to home? The Appalachian Mountains in North Georgia or the Carolinas might be just the thing you’re after. Within an easy day drive from Central Florida, you can be enjoying the crisp air and cool breezes just a few hours of leaving the Florida heat. There are plenty of cabins, bed and breakfasts, and lodges to accommodate you, and if you go before the peak fall season, you’ll be able to find these places at very affordable rates. Some places in the North Carolina mountains rarely get above 80 degrees in the summer months. It is an ideal spot to enjoy cool weather and a relaxing time. If you enjoy a nice drive in the mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway is always a sight to see.

“I’m not one to tell you that I’m the happiest person alive; I have my times,” Sarah says. “I get sorry for myself, but then it goes away. The deep-rooted depression is gone … Right now, [I’m] normal … I’m enjoying things again.” If you believe TMS therapy could benefit your patients, call HPR Treatment Centers of Ormond Beach at 877-746-7251 or visit HPRTC.com to learn more.
