ABOUT SWVS Southwest Veterinary Symposium is a partnership of the Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas VMAs, as well as the Oklahoma Veterinary Technician Association, Arkansas Veterinary Technician Association, New Mexico Registered Veterinary Technician Association and the Veterinary Team Association of Texas. We provide continuing education for veterinary professionals in the Southwest region and the nation. Symposium profits are returned to the partner states. SWVS CONVENTION CONCIERGE SERVICES “The Convention Concierge,” the Visit San Antonio Kiosk, is located on-site near the SWVS registration area. Visit San Antonio assists you with information on dinner reservations, tickets, shopping, tours and travel to all of the exciting sites in San Antonio and the surrounding area. SHOW US YOUR BADGE PROGRAM Through the Show Us Your Badge program, convention attendees can receive discounts and special offers at over 50 restaurants and nightlife establishments in downtown San Antonio simply by showing their conference badge. This complimentary program is San Antonio's way of extending a warm welcome! A maximum of 28 credit hours are available during the general symposium. Additional credit hours are available. Please check with your state veterinary medical licensing board for specific continuing education allowances and requirements. See page 18 for complete details. MEDIA REGISTRANTS Press and media must register with SWVS prior to attending the symposium. Press credentials will be issued to authorized media. SAFETY Our goal is to provide a safe environment for everyone. There is a chance that overcrowding could occur in some lectures. SWVS must comply with the fire marshal’s policies to ensure we are safe, so if a meeting room is at capacity, no one else will be allowed in the room until it is safe to do so. We ask for your understanding and patience should this occur. Plan to arrive early for a specific lecture if you wish to participate. GUESTS Guests, spouses and children are all welcome on the SWVS tradeshow floor. Guest/spouse tickets are only $80 each and are for family members or guests who are not veterinarians, veterinary technicians, office staff, or practice managers. Guests 17 and under do not need a ticket. No guests or children under 17 are allowed in CE sessions. AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT SWVS cannot assure availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification of the need 30 days prior to the start of the event. If you do require specific needs onsite without prior notification, you will be

Blood will be drawn on Saturday, then packaged and shipped to a laboratory for titer determination. Results will be sent from Kansas State University with an estimated turnaround time of six to eight weeks. Cost of the titer will be $125. If it has been a relatively long time (5 or more years) since you have had a rabies booster vaccination or a titer determination, you may elect to have a booster vaccination instead of having a titer run. Cost of the vaccination will be $375. Rabies vaccinations will not be available on-site if you do not pre- register by August 30th for the vaccine. Using the River Walk sidewalks not only shortens your walk with no street traffic, it also provides a scenic view of the river. TAXI Two to six people ride for the price of one. VHMA approved course ID 23-27, www.vhma.org CE CREDIT INFORMATION SWVS is a continuing education provider and offers more than 450+ hours of quality CE courses for Veterinarians, Veterinary Students, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Technician Students, Veterinary Assistants, Practice Managers and Office Staff. SWVS is owned by five partner state VMAs, each of which is an affiliate of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). These state veterinary medical exam boards accept/approve SWVS for CE credit. Registrants from other states should check with their state Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners regarding approval of SWVS CE credit. A maximum of 28 CE credit hours are available for the SWVS General Symposium. Additional credit hours are available as listed below. In addition, DVMs licensed in Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma or Texas may claim 2 hours of CE for visiting the SWVS Exhibit Hall. Please check with your state veterinary medical licensing board for specific CE allowances and requirements. It is the individual’s responsibility to maintain and submit CE records as required. Attendees are encouraged to consult their state licensing board for specific allowances and any restrictions on the number of hours accepted for specialty and non-science sessions (practice management).

CONTINUING EDUCATION VERIFICATION IN 3 EASY STEPS

Three simple steps are required to obtain the SWVS CE Certificate of Completion.

CHECK IN – Upon arrival at the San Antonio Convention Center, check in at the registration area, where your badge will be scanned to verify your attendance. You only need to scan your badge once. TRACK YOUR ATTENDANCE – Use the CE Checklist provided in this on-site guide to record your presence at each session you attend. CE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION – At the conclusion of the Symposium, your CE Certificate will be emailed to you. Maintain the certificate, along with the CE Checklist, in your files. It is then your responsibility to submit CE to your state board. SWVS does not submit CE reports for attendees.
