Les résultats de cette fraude sont clairs. Le 21 mars, la PPO de Russell a reçu un appel concernant un vol d’identité présumé. La victime avait reçu un appel d’une per- sonne se faisant passer pour un employé de banque et avait suivi toutes les instructions ci-des- sus, remettant ses cartes à une incon- nue pour qu’elles soient « détruites «. Malheureusement, elle a été victime d’une fraude et a perdu plus de 6 000 $ le jour même. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the death of an 18-year-old Hawkesbury student who went missing after a house party. A proposed new residential subdivision near the hospital in Hawkesbury has a few neighbouring homeowners worried about their own property values. Council members listened to a presenta- tion March 28 about a new subdivision pro- ject, Portail du Mont Roc Gateway, proposed for a four-hectare area near the intersection of Spence Street and Cameron Street. Les changements apportés au plan de travaux publics de cette année pour les comtés signifient plus d’améliorations routières près du village de Plantagenet. Le conseil des Comtés-unis de Prescott- Russell (CUPR) approuve certaines révisions au plan régional des travaux publics pour cette année. Jérémie Bouchard, directeur des travaux publics du CUPR, a indiqué au conseil que le canton de Russell a confirmé son intention de reporter à l’année prochaine le projet de remplacement de l’égout pluvial de la rue Craig. Les CUPR avait alloué 1 million de dollars dans le budget 2022 comme part des com- tés pour le projet, car il s’agit d’une route de comté. M. Bouchard a fait remarquer que le report des travaux de l’égout pluvial de la rue Craig à l’année prochaine offrait la possibilité aux CUPR de répondre à d’autres besoins en matière de travaux régionaux. Le conseil des CUPR a accepté la recom- mandation de M. Bouchard de réaffecter une partie du million de dollars destiné au projet de la rue Craig au repavage du tronçon à trois voies de la route de comté 17 à l’ouest de Plantagenet. Le tronçon de la route de comté est situé à l’intersection du chemin de concession 3. Le plan de gestion des actifs des CUPR indique qu’il doit être remis en état, avec une estimation préliminaire des coûts de 500 000 $. Le personnel de M. Bouchard disposera

The Vankleek Hill Skating Club saw sil- ver as four figure skating students took to the ice for Skate Canada’s CanSkate program. The four students have been learning to figure skate as part of the program for the better part of a year, navigating shutdowns and uncertain ice availability, but all their work has paid off. Alice Brunet, Joannie Labre, and Coralie Labre received a bronze assessment, and Haylee Diotte Leduc received a silver assessment in their Star 1 showcase. “They were quite proud to be wearing the dress, they were very nervous on the JDFPGDPVSTF uTBJE4UBSMFUUFT$PBDI/BODZ /FVNBOOi*UT UIFàSTU UJNF GPS UIFN UP skate in front of parents and other people, BOEJUTBMXBZTBMJUUMFCJUOFSWFXSBDLJOH CVU UIFZSFMPPLJOHGPSXBSEUPSFQFBUJOHJUBHBJO next year and hopefully scoring a better score before they move up into the next level.” The CanSkate program teaches both kids and adults how to reach their skating goals. The Starlettes skated in the Star 1 show case, which works on the most basic skating skills. The assessments go up to Star 10. The date of their next event is uncertain, as rural areas have less ice time available for booking, especially in the summer.
