Bols family supports WDMH with run
These beds add a new level of technology to patient care. Enright used the example of a patient with congestive heart failure who is given diuretics to shed fluid. With older beds patients had to be frequently weighed and lifted in and out of bed, but with these beds patients can be weighed without be- ing moved, reducing the chance of injury. They also recline. Enright said most injuries in hospital are caused when patients get of bed without nursing help. Stryker beds are equipped with a sensor that sends an alarm to a nurse’s cellphone so nurses can get to pa- tients before they leave the beds. When the WDMH was opened in 2009, only eight of the old beds were replaced. The government pays hospital operating costs, but does not buy beds, IV pumps, im- aging machines or most other equipment.
