School for the third year in a row, on Satur- day, October 26.
The event will be held at the high school auditorium. Doors open for the 90-minute show at 8:30 p.m. featuring three comed- ians including Josh Williams and Ward An- derson. Snacks and a cash bar will be avail- able. Tickets are available at Pronto or by calling Joanne Giles at 613-445-0839. Funds raised will be used to purchase stage mics and curtains for the RAPA/RHS stage, and for sports equipment for the RHS gym. The Russell Association for the Performing Arts (RAPA) and RHS have been partners in the school’s auditorium and stage since 2005, when Kim Wijsman and Jane Brown- rigg directed Wonderland. The children’s musical’s cast included 65 children and re- quired a bigger venue than the usual Rus- sell arena venue. Then Russell Middle School principal Bryan Cochrane offered the use of the gym. When the school expanded to a high school and was in the process of designing the auditorium and stage, RAPA applied for and received a $70,000 Trillium grant to be used for lights and sound equipment. Since then, a reciprocal agreement whereby the school has full use of RAPA’s equipment and RAPA has use of the venue has stood. “It has been a true success story between a public institution and a com- munity group,” said long-time RAPA mem- ber Mhairi Rowland. Le Festival du livre franco de l’Est n’organisera pas de salon du livre cette année. Le conseil d’administration doit se rencontrer lors de l’assemblée générale de l’organisme, qui se tiendra le 6 novem- bre prochain à Casselman. L’assemblée générale soulignera les réalisations de l’organisme depuis ses débuts. L’avenir du festival sera au nombre des sujets abordés à cette occasion. La présidente du Festi- val, Rachel Boucher, invite les gens à par- ticiper à cette assemblée en s’inscrivant à l’adresse : rboucher@casselman.ca ou par téléphone au 613 764-5505.
