Nov. 4, 1951 PROBLEMS FACING YOUTH IN LATIN AMERICA 2 Tim. 2:1-7,15

Wherever there are young people there are problems and in every country these are the same problems. That which causes the problem is sin. The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are just the same in every country and with every people. Sin is very attractive. It pleases and gives en joyment. The natural man relishes sin in some of its forms. Some sins are de lightful to experience while others are horrible. Every young person must de cide whether he will trust the Saviour who saves from sin or will prefer to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season and then go out into the long dark eternity. God Makes Us Sons 2 Tim. 2:1 In order to safely combat and conquer sin, which is the enemy of man, God has provided a remedy. By faith in Christ Jesus God brings us into His own family, gives us His own nature, sends us His own Spirit, and enables us to conquer sin. There is no way of making a bad sinner good except by making him a child of God. There is no help for the flesh in the Scripture. No amount of education, music, science nor labor can conquer the evil nature of a human being. We must become children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. God Makes Us Soldiers 2 Tim. 2:3 Only those are soldiers who have joined the army, taken up the sword, put on the uniform, and turned their backs on all else. The uniform is the righteousness of God. The helmet is salvation. The feet are shod with iron and brass. In any nation and in every life the young person who equips him self thus will be a conqueror over the world, the flesh, and the devil. Those in every people, tongue, race, nation, and color may have this blessed privilege and must take advantage of it if they are to be conquerors.

God Makes Us Farmers 2 Tim. 2:6

Every young person should have a goal, an aim, an object in life. The lazy mind and the idle brain are fertile fields for Satan’s ingenuity. Most young peo ple in every land are allergic to work. Very few wish to apply themselves to a constructive and useful ministry. For this reason, there is loafing around the street corners, doubtful conversations, and unholy actions. If these young peo ple would apply themselves to the study of God’s Word they would come to know God and could use the Scriptures in helping others. Then they would be con querors over evil desires and help others to be overcomers, also. God Makes Us Workmen 2 Tim. 2:15 Workmen usually work together in a common enterprise. The carpenter, plumber, plasterer, electrician, and brick mason must all co-ordinate their labor in order to construct a house. So Chris tian young people seek the company of other young people who are saved by grace and engage collectively in the precious business of promoting the serv ice of the King. This prevents ungodly associations and promotes helpful com panionships which make for the glory of God and the defeat of Satan. God desires us to have both a plan and a purpose in the Christian life.
