THE KING’S BUSINESS

our day say that Christ was not God, yet the best o f men. I f Christ was not God, He could not even be a good man, but only an imposter, as these thought. But if Christ is God (John 10:30) are not those who deny that He is, blasphemers? How did Christ give them evidence that the man’s sins were forgiven? Explain that the oriental bed was only a thick pad and transportable. Christ seemed to bid this man do the impossible, Yet the man had only to be willing and to believe. It was Christ who did the impossible in him. Willingness, wanting to be cured wasn’t enough had he halted and doubted. But the moment he took what Christ could do for him. the moment he “let God” he was a well man. Have you learned the secret o f let ting God do for you what you can’t do for yourself? Jerusalem to hear Him. They were the great teachers o f that country and had heard that He was a much greater teacher than they, so they had come to see if the people had told the truth about him. Not only these men from Jerusalem but people from all over Galilee came to the house to hear the Great Teachei. \ There was a man living in Capernaum who had been sick a long time. He could talk and visit with friends but he could not walk or use his hands. He had friends who wished he might be healed. They knew the Lord Jesus could make him well if they could just get the man to Him. On this day four o f his friends met together and talked it over. Some one said, “ There are four 'of us, why hot carry him? Why have we not thought o f that before?” They each held a corner o f the bed on which he was lying and carried him through the streets to the house where the> Lord was. They could not get in. The people were crowd ing around the house and would not move

Was he disappointed? Why did Christ offer forgiveness when he had come for healing? Badly as his body needed healing, forgiveness for his sin was his greatest need. If'o n ly our sin looked tp us as it does to God we would not treat it lightly, but crave forgiveness. Some o f the national leaders, theologians, lawyers, politicians 'were present. They were there to detect something wrong with this new teacher who was creating such interest. They were only “ reasoning in their hearts.” But Christ knew their thoughts because He is God. Christ not only knows our thought when we are naughty, but He knows our motives when others misunder stand and misjudge us as well (Ps. 131: 1-4). Could He tell them their thoughts? They were nearer right than they thought. Only God can forgive sin (Isa. 43:25). I f Christ was not God and claimed to forgive sin He did blaspheme. Some wise men of M emory V erse : “ Forgive us our sins:”-^ Luke 11 :4. Approach.-r-I know a little girl who has something she really wants to share with other boys and girls. No, it is not any thing to eat, or wear, or even play with. What do you think it is? Mother! Janie says, “I want other people to know and love her, too.” Don’t you think that makes her mother happy? I do. W e make opr Master very happy when we want to share Him with the boys and girls in China, Africa, Japan and the cold Countries. W e want them to know the only One to whom we can say, “ Forgive us our sins.” Presentation .—Draw from the children a description o f Capernaum. Dwell on the construction o f the houses. The interior court, with the roof which could be lifted off when the weather was cool and fair. One day the Lord Jesus was teaching in the court o f one o f the houses o f Caper naum. Men had come all the way from
