Russell County OPP has some advice for drivers this Yuletide season. Better not be naughty and drive while drunk or there will be a not-very-nice provincial court date on

(Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) will see police man- ning special checkstops throughout Russell County and elsewhere in the province. While impaired driving is the primary focus of the R.I.D.E., police will also be checking for seatbelt compliance, no distracted dri- ving incidents and, where necessary, any vehicle defects that might increase the risk of an accident. That includes headlights and taillights which do not work and faulty windshield wipers. Anyone driving while impaired by smo- king marijuana or taking some other type of drug will also be on the police watch list during the Festive R.I.D.E.The OPP has offi- cers with special training in drug use reco- gnition and will bemaking use of a series of special sobriety tests on-site to determine if someonemay be impaired frommarijuana, hashish, or some other drug.
