CWU Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda May 2026

To: Central Washington University Board of Trustees From: Faculty Senate Executive Committee Date: May 8, 2026 Subject: Quarterly Update to the Board

The Faculty Senate Executive Committee (FSEC) submits this report to provide an update on the work of the Faculty Senate since the last regular Board meeting in February 2026. Appreciation for the Board’s Responsiveness Thank you for your continued willingness to engage with the FSEC. We have enjoyed the opportunity to meet regularly with the Board Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) and are appreciative of the tremendous time and effort the Trustees have invested to make these meetings happen. Since the February Board meeting, we have made progress in discussing the Faculty Code, CWU policy, and the shared governance document. We look forward to continued collaboration with the AAC and the shared governance consultant. We are also appreciative that the Board Executive Committee held three listening sessions in April and May and has added a standing report from Faculty Senate to Board agendas. Finally, we appreciate the efforts of other Board subcommittees in meeting with staff and other university constituents and in initiating the process of hiring a consultant to engage in trust-building. These efforts communicate the Board’s strong investment in the well-being of the institution and commitment to improving Board-faculty communication. Updates on the Vote of No Confidence As communicated in February, the vote of no confidence results were definitive and represent a serious lack of trust in the President. In total, 375 faculty (82.4% of the 455 eligible faculty) submitted a ballot. Results were as follows: 9.1% ( n = 34) indicated “yes” they have confidence in President Wohlpart’s leadership; 81.6% ( n = 306) indicated “no” they do not have confidence in President Wohlpart’s leadership; and 9.3% ( n = 35) abstained. We are including the vote of no confidence petition and the supplementary information provided by FSEC in the appendix. These materials were not previously included in a Board packet, and we believe they should be part of the Board record.
