CWU Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda May 2026

Although we appreciate the Board responding to the vote of no confidence by increasing Board-Faculty Senate communication and initiating the processes of hiring consultants, we remain concerned about the lack of public Board acknowledgement about leadership issues brought forward by faculty. The Board has repeatedly communicated their “full support” for president Wohlpart without indicating that changes in his behavior are necessary. While the President’s university- wide email on 2 April 2026 adopted a much-improved tone over his previous communications, it still did not detail any substantive changes or actions going forward. It remains unclear what will change in the President’s leadership approach, how the Board will assess his actions, or under what timeframe the campus community should expect to see improvements. Although according to HR policy we cannot expect to know the details of personnel conversations, we request more communication about action plans and expectations broadly. Without such communication and paired with the message of “full support” from the Board, we are concerned that little may change in the administrative culture of the university. As some Trustees heard in the recent listening sessions, without meaningful change, it will be difficult for the university community to move forward and rebuild trust. The Work of Faculty Senate In these challenging times, the Faculty Senate has continued engaging in the important work of shared governance. We plan to continue to provide quarterly written updates to the Board about Faculty Senate initiatives and the myriad ways faculty are engaged in supporting student success and institutional change. We also look forward to our reports at Board meetings where there will be opportunity for dialogue. These changes will be voted on during the June Senate meeting and will come forward to the Board for a vote in summer. • The Curriculum Committee has continued approving curriculum proposals for new and revised courses and programs. Additionally, they have continued work on development of a definition for “hyflex” courses that is inclusive of the various practices across the university. They are also engaged in facilitating the next steps in
