CWU Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda May 2026

Appendix B

The following is a non-exhaustive list of further examples and details of President Wohlpart’s failure to elevate shared governance and work collaboratively with the faculty, as described in the Justification for the vote, part I. ● Threats to Substantially Rewrite or Eliminate the Faculty Code. Beginning in July 2025 President Wohlpart discussed the possibility of a significant revision to the Faculty Code. He has repeatedly claimed this directive comes from the Board of Trustees (BOT). However, his claims seem to contradict the position of the BOT reflected in BOT meeting minutes, and he has intentionally interfered with Senate’s attempts to communicate directly with the BOT. o Aligning Code with the 2025 Shared Governance Document: The BOT has publicly stated that Code and policy should be aligned with the 2025 Shared Governance document. However, President Wohlpart insists the revision should take place outside of the established amendment process and instead be conducted by a small group of administrators and faculty in direct violation of the Code. Despite multiple attempts to understand the ways the Faculty Code needed to be aligned to the shared governance document, the President has only named the fact that he does not think the faculty should be able to evaluate him, and the Faculty Code should not include workload details for Senate positions. Faculty Senate leadership agreed to negotiate with the President on both topics, though they stipulated that such work must go through the established consultative processes, involving relevant Faculty Senate standing committees and motions to be voted on by the Senators. The President has not been willing to work with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee or the Bylaws and Faculty Code Committee (BFCC) on revisions. o 2025 Shared Governance Document not created through Shared Governance Process: In response to the BOT’s directive in Summer 2025, the Faculty Senate charged the BFCC with assessing the alignment of the Code with the 2025 Shared Governance document, and a report was included in the packet for the January 14, 2026, Faculty Senate meeting 17 . Simultaneously, in January 2026, the President brought together the Faculty Senate Chair, ADCO Chair, and UFC Chair to present a directive to move the Faculty Code from Senate purview. His proposal would recruit three administrative representatives and three administratively-approved

17 The Faculty Senate Bylaws and Faculty Code Committee prepared a report assessing the alignment of the Faculty Code, the new shared governance document, and national best practices in shared governance. It was shared at the January 14, 2026, Faculty Senate meeting. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j9yOe2qQXM0SnJTyKDOVmVLIzOXt6Q07/view?usp=sharing
