Federal investment in Presqu’île water main

Pierre Lemieux, Member of Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, announced more than $355,000 in federal funding for the Presqu’île water main project in the municipality of Alfred-Plantagenet. “This is a $1million water project, which will greatly benefit the people of Presqu’île,” said Lemieux. “Our federal government is investing in priority infrastructure projects that have a strong impact on the quality of life of our residents, while helping job creation and economic growth.” The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Inter- governmental Affairs, and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec. The project is being jointly funded by the federal govern- ment and the province of Ontario through the Small Communities Fund. “As the MP, I am pleased to announce our federal investment in projects such as the Presqu’île water main, a project that will benefit our community by improvingmuch needed local infrastructure,” Lemieux stated. “Our federal government’s commitment to municipalities, big and small, has never been stronger. I have worked closely with MPP Grant Crack and Mayor Fern Dicaire to prioritize this important project.”

Any actions that distract a driver’s attention from the road and traffic conditions are covered under the legislation, from talking or texting on a mobile phone or other device, to eating and drinking while driving, or even glancing down to adjust an entertainment console or GPS system. – Gregg Chamberlain

The project involves extending the mu- nicipal water main network, connecting Presqu’île to the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet municipal water filtration plant located in the village of Lefaivre. Once com- pleted, the new connectionwill provide safe,
clean, high-quality-drinking water to resi- dents of Presqu’île. The Ontario government is also provi- ding over $355,000 for this project. Alfred and Plantagenet will be responsible for all remaining costs of the project.
