Message from Lifestyle David Wow, where has the last three months gone? It has been an exciting and memorable few months here at Burpengary Manor, filled with laughter, celebrations, special visitors, and wonderful moments shared between residents, families, and staff. We celebrated Easter with a very special visit from
the Easter Bunny, thanks to Traditional Funerals and our maintenance man dressing up for the occasion. Residents also enjoyed a lovely Easter high tea. One of the highlights was welcoming the Henny Penny chickens for two weeks, bringing so much joy as everyone watched the chicks hatch and grow. Although it was sad to say goodbye, they certainly created many happy memories. Cooking activities continue to bring everyone together, with residents, staff, and families enjoying time spent sharing recipes, stories, and laughter. Residents have also enjoyed outings to the local shops, giving everyone the opportunity to browse, shop, and enjoy being out in the community. Entertainment has been another highlight, especially when Elvis Presley came to perform for us. It was an incredible day filled with singing, dancing, and wonderful memories. We also held a meaningful ANZAC service hosted by the Deception Bay RSL Club, with a special bagpiper performance enjoyed by all. To make the day even more fun, our cleaner gave everyone a demonstration on how to play Two-Up. Mother’s Day was celebrated with a beautiful high tea for the ladies, and we also recognised International Nurses Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Day, with cakes shared throughout the facility. Pampering sessions have returned to the salon, bringing relaxation and smiles to many residents. Another very special occasion was celebrating one of our lovely ladies turning 100 years young — a truly remarkable milestone. We were also fortunate to welcome the Old Skool Cars N Pizza car group to the facility for a fantastic car show. Residents enjoyed walking around the classic cars, reminiscing about old memories and sharing stories from years gone by. A hamper pack was put together by residents for the best car. Looking ahead, we are excited for the upcoming celebrations still to come. We will be celebrating Italian Day with morning tea in the café, followed by armchair travel on the big screen and an afternoon wine and cheese tasting. Indian Day will also bring staff together to celebrate culture, food, and community. Of course, we are all looking forward to the Ekka celebrations, with clowns visiting alongside the kindy kids — hopefully they do not get too frightened! We will also have a balloon entertainer visiting in the afternoon, which is sure to bring plenty of laughter and fun to everyone involved. David Lifestyle Coordinator
