As well as a complex containment system installed to client specification, small power systems included underfloor busbar, floor boxes, grommets and dado trunking systems. A complete structured-cabling installation was delivered throughout the complex, in close liaison with the client’s integrated services teams. The building is protected by an L1 fire alarm with VESDA systems, serving the engineering hall, service areas and ceiling voids. A refuge system aids staff requiring assistance during an evacuation, and disabled toilet alarms provide remote indication at reception. Security systems include CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systems. Mechanical services controls and wiring were supplied across all internal and external mechanical systems including roof- mounted plant. A lightning protection system spans the main building and all outbuildings, encompassing complex earthing systems associated with HV installation. A UPS system was installed to back up all essential equipment.
A roof-mounted 50kw PV system was installed on a flat roof using a Van Der Valk system and grid-connected via an inverter. Audio-visual infrastructure includes infra- red induction loop systems and facilitates projector and TV locations and room- booking systems. Externally, Stothers (M&E) provided all external lighting controlled via the BMS, security services, 22kW car chargers and bike chargers. A BIM model was produced to support coordination and installation, in full compliance with BS EN ISO 19650 and UK BIM requirements along with the client’s asset requirements and COBie input.
