are usually filthy, dirty, vile and rot ten. But here is the most perfect Man in all the world, full of love and grace, and He is despised. The Saviour fed the hungry, opened the eyes of the blind, enabled the lame to walk, the sick to be cleansed, the dead raised, and yet they despised Him. They scoffed and made fun of Him. They called Him a drunk and a winebibber. They didn’t want Him in their company. Beloved, isn’t that ter rible? Do you know, some day those people who despise Him are going to wake up and find that He is the Judge on the throne and that they have to face Him. After death every human being will come before the Saviour. What will they say to the One whom they have despised? God has set apart a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He hath ordained, His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In Mark 9:12 the Lord mentions “that he must suffer many things, and be set at naught.” This simply means that the world looks upon Him as useless and vain; He is not wanted for they make fun of Him. Remember those who said, “If you’re God, come down from the cross.” “If you’re God turn these stones into bread.” “If you’re God jump off the pinnacle of the temple and let your angels catch you.” “If you’re God do some mira cles.” Yes, the crowd “set him at naught.” Here was the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of peace, and yet they had no use for Him. Think of the folly of those who cast aside the only Saviour of the world. In II Peter 2:1, we read of those who denied “The Lord that bought them.” It is like some teachers do to- today. In various high school, college and university classrooms these people deny everything God said. They bring in the false theories of evolution and even that which borders on atheism. Have you gone to Him, giving Him your life? Trust Him with all you are and have. Someday you will see Him face to face, and you will be so glad you made this decision.
