A TRADITION OF SERVICE

A SEVEN-YEAR TRADITION IN SUPPORTING LOCAL FAMILIES What began as a simple act of giving back has grown into something much bigger. Nearly seven years later, a dedicated group of Averitt associates continues to come together with one shared purpose: supporting families in their community who need it most. Last summer, the Dedicated Central Staff team led their seventh Team Up Challenge in partnership with Jason Martin, proprietor of the St. Luke Food Pantry. The team included ANGIE ROACH, GWENDOLYN BOZEMAN, MARILYN JONES, and Averitt Ambassador GINGER PICKLE . Ginger and Gwendolyn got the ball rolling when they saw a need and chose to work together to volunteer at the food bank. Marilyn and Angie soon joined in, strengthening our team’s impact on people in Lee County, Mississippi who are struggling with food security. Each year, the need continues to increase. The team has noticed more families coming for support and more food boxes being distributed than the year before. “Our Dedicated team’s contribution starts with prayer at 8 a.m., followed by a message from Jason Martin,” Marilyn explained. “Then we load food items into boxes, place them into a shopping cart, and load those boxes into recipients’ cars. Whatever was needed to assist.” Since the team’s first year of service, the St. Luke Food Pantry has grown not only in volunteers, but also in how it operates. What began with clipboards in 2018 has evolved into a system using tablets, allowing for faster and more accurate information while serving families efficiently. Over the years, the team has been accompanied by retired seniors from the St.

Members of our Dedicated team partnered with the St. Luke Food Pantry for their Team Up Community Challenge project.

Luke Church, local businesses, and even county inmates. They all come together with a common goal: to provide food to the hundreds of families in the area with food shortages. “I’m very proud of our Averitt team,” Marilyn said. “We’re proud to be a small team that follows the direction of Gary and Averitt’s culture.” Thank you to our Dedicated Central Staff team for inspiring all of us to be a part of a great cause, giving back to our community, and helping those around us. The Team Up Community Challenge is a year-round initiative through which associates across Averitt’s network are encouraged to participate in local service projects. The initiative exemplifies the spirit of our Averitt family when we work together to serve our local communities . The company honors our associates’ community service hours by making matching contributions to our nonprofit charitable organization, Averitt Charities .
