FACADES

Our Facades division continues to grow and diversify. Specialising in the installation of Gebrik through- wall system along with aluminium cladding and window installation, we have completed a number of Facades projects this year and are excited to continue expanding our Façades department in 2018.

Sawtooth Errigal have being working with Westfield Europe Ltd in order to develop a bespoke aluminium rainscreen facade for their project in White City. The design intent was to use a GRC, but this was ruled out due to programme con- straints. Errigal along with our supply chain partners devel- oped a paint finish to replicate the GRC stone look using a two part paint process. The sawtooth panels vary in length up to 5m and width up to 1m.

Errigal’s scope involves detailed structural design, architectural layout and detailing, manufacture and install. The finish is striking and will help complete the landmark face on the new Westfield White City development. Looking forward to seeing the finished facade in early 2018!

Galaxy House

Façade Design Errigal are committed to providing a top quality in-house design service for our growing facade division. This year we have added a total of four new in-house designers and worked with a number of consultants including structural designs & architects to develop bespoke and exacting designs to our clients high standards.

We have a number of projects commencing in 2018 and look forward to continued growth in our Facade division.

FIRE TESTING

Errigal Facades in conjunction with our supply chain, our client & consultants have recently carried out two full scale fire test’s of facade elements at Exova’s Cladding Testing Facility in Dubai.

Over a 4 week period these tests were carried out to BS8414 Part 2 and classified against Annex B BR135 as a route to compliance for use of combustible materials above 18m. Errigal’s remit included testing rig configuration, material procurement, logistics and rig build.

The testing rigs reflected the finishes chosen on an upcoming project in East London and included a combination of materials with differing wall build-ups, fire classification and insulation thickness, which are the first of its kind to be tested successfully.

A further test on a rainscreen cladding solution will be carried out in late December.

ERRIGAL’S FIRST FEMALE APPRENTICE

Jessica Dardis

Why did you want to work in the construction industry? I was always a bit of a tomboy growing up so I wasn’t put off by entering a male dominated environment. I knew I wanted something challenging and this apprenticeship is, but it is also very rewarding. I like the Errigal Training Academy and the apprenticeship and the fact that Errigal actively promote women in construction. I know the percentage of women in the company is relatively high compared to other companies in this industry and it looked like a good place to work. Where do you see your career going? I really like Maths so measurements and setting out is one of my favourite tasks on site. I also have a keen interest in Construction Health and Safety so maybe something in that field. But right now I am happy learning my trade and I enjoy working on the tools. Errigal is very supportive and they have the right prospects for anyone who wants to succeed and climb the ladder.

ERRIGAL BUILDING CAREERS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

THE ERRIGAL DEGREE PROGRAMME

The Arora Hotel O2, London

Errigal are delighted to be offering a fantastic opportunity to undergraduates who are pursuing a career in Quantity Surveying or Construction Engineering and Management. We are providing very attractive scholarships through leading Universities which enables students to “earn while they learn”, thus gaining valuable experience with a market leader and achieving their degree at the same time.

Meet Odhran, one of Errigal’s undergraduate Quantity Surveyors

Odhran, why did you choose a career in Quantity Surveying? Since an early age I have been interested in the Construction Industry. In 2009 my family built our home, the process from design through to the finished product intrigued me. During the summer months I worked as a labourer on an Errigal site in Belfast helping the tradesmen and putting the required products where they needed them at the specific time and the correct quantity they needed. This was a great experience and I really enjoyed it.

Why choose Errigal to work with? The opportunity that Errigal is offering is unreal. Not only am I able to earn while I learn, but Errigal are also paying for my University fees which means I will qualify with my degree debt free. I am being mentored by Errigal’s Senior QS team, gaining invaluable experience in the role. I have been out on site measuring for variations, I am assisting on take-offs and the make-up of bills of quantities. I am really looking forward to the experience and hope one day to complete my professional exams with Errigal Contracts.
