CHORDS FROM THE PSALMIST’S HARP “Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned”—P salm 51:4.

Interesting Books That make highly prized G radu a tion Presents By Janies Strahan The fascinating recital of the heroic life of Catherine Booth-Clibborn, her ar duous work and the wonderful results on behalf of the Salvation Army, in the redemption of people in every walk of life ‘in Paris. A truly wonderful biog raphy, not a superflous paragraph in the whole book. Every page will hold you spell-bound and as you read you cannot help praising God that He can and does use women in His work of saving souls. Beautifully bound in Cloth, $1.50 This is an interesting story in which the blessed truth of the imminent return of Christ is set forth in such a way as both to convince the reader and to in spire in him a deeper love of, and de sire for, the Lord’s appearing» Many doubtless will welcome the opportunity to learn from a book of this kind the Bible teaching concerning this great doctrine. Those for whom this subject has hitherto held little interest, or by whom it has been contemplated with a sense of fear, will derive great blessing from a perusal of the story. Cloth* $1.25 The Mark of the Beast By Sydney Watson A companion volume to ”ln the Twinkling of an Eye,” this book pic tures the horrors to come upon earth during the time of the Great Tribula tion which will follow the rapture of the saints. It cannot fail to excite the determination to escape this period of anguish and unrestrained wickedness, and to be among those who shall be caught up to be forever with the Lord. Cloth, $1.25 Prodigal Daughters By Joseph Hocking This is not a religious book in any sense of that term, but it is exceedingly wholesome nevertheless. Present day conditions are fearlessly presented in such a way as to hold. Another story which will hold the reader spell-bound until the last page is reached. It is a frank, up-to-date story. A powerful piece.of writing in which the famous novelist graphically describes the struggle against the flood of new morals and ethics and dress of the younger generation of women. Cloth, $1.75 “The Marachale” in the Twinkling o f’an Eye By Sydney Watson By Archibald F. Glover This is a book entirely out of the or dinary. It is a marvelous 372 pages of missionary romance, unexcelled in his tory. The reading of it draws forth many tears, many prayers and more praises. Cloth, $1.50 If money does not accompany order, goods will be sent C. O. D. unless otherwise specified. If books are to come by mail add 10% for postage. AVID never spake g reater words th an these. They be tokened a victory over his soul and sp irit beside which

all other of his victories, w hether against Goliath or the nations about him, were not to be compared. Some one has said, “Next to not comm itting sin is confessing sin.” Another has said, “The th ree h ard est words in the English language are, ‘I was mis tak en ,’ ’’ which in some cases may be ju st another way of saying, “ I have sinned.” Pride, self-respect, consid eration of position and supposed use fulness in the world cry out against confession of any kind. But God says: “ If, we confess our sin s ;” and again, “Confess- your fau lts one -to ano ther.” It is between these opposing voices th a t is found the conflict; and this was the battle which David fought and won. David’s victory is th e g reat need of the day. People have lost the sense of sin, and hence, the sense of the need of confessing sin. As a resu lt we have atrophy of sp iritu al life in individuals and in organizations. The terrib le resu lt of th is is, loss of power because of the loss of the presence of God in power. “If I regard iniquity in my h eart, the Lord will not hear me,” and th is is tru e for the individual and the collection of individuals. David was a man afte r God’s own h e a rt-^ n o t in perfection, •bu t in such soul loyalty as led to the confession of imperfection. F rederick the Great said: “ I have ju st lost a g reat battle, and it was en tirely my own fau lt.” Bacon, in more trying circumstances, said: “I do plainly and ingenuously confess th a t I am guilty of corruption, and so re nounce all defence; I beseech your lordships to be merciful to a broken reed.” These are worthy examples for ns to follow, as th e re is need. And never shall we be g reater than when, some day, we say to God and men: “ I have been m istaken,” or, “I have sinned!”— Rev. Henry W. Frost. “ Only a slip of paper Passed from your hand w ith prayer Telling the world’s greatest story, W arning for Heaven to prepare; H aste then to hand out the message, Delay not or count not the cost But scatter the news of salvation E re souls be eternally lost.” Rev. R. H. W ashburn, D. D., L. L. D.
