PE Review Journal Reading around the subject is key to developing a broader and deeper understanding of the course content. We therefore subscribe to the monthly PE Review Journal which pupils are given lesson time to read, note and present. Once per half term pupils will be asked to pick an article from the journal which appeals to their specific interests. Based on this they must then produce a presentation to give to their peers.

for enhancement of sports performance, pupils are then challenged to develop their own multidisciplinary programme. To aid and stretch their learning, pupils are asked to read peer reviewed journal articles from such publications as Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning Journal and the UKSCA monthly publication. These articles enhance the pupils’ understanding of the core concepts, whilst challenging them to focus on key information as they might need to at university. We ask all pupils to complete work booklets based on what they have learned in their Physical Education lessons. Year 10-11 Physical Education All pupils are provided with a programme template where they can transfer what they have learned in lessons into exercising independently or with their peers. Independent Learning in PE Year 7-9 Physical Education

Strength and Conditioning The Strength and Conditioning syllabus follows two distinct strands: Practical Techniques in Strength and Conditioning; and Programme Design, Planning and Monitoring. By following these two facets of Strength and Conditioning pupils are more able to understand and critically evaluate the technical aspects of, and rationale for, the principal techniques used in Strength and Conditioning. Combined with a module where they critically evaluate the principal issues in designing and monitoring Strength and Conditioning programmes
