WILD AND WONDERFUL Luxury, fine craftsmanship and exceptional service have been the core values of de Boulle Diamond & Jewelry for more than 34 years. It is these values that will always set de Boulle apart. I am delighted to present to you our beautifully crafted 2017 de Boulle Magazine and to take this opportunity to invite you to experience de Boulle again — or for the first time. Our new advertising campaign features supermodel Chandra North once again. A Dallas native, Chandra was discovered as a teenager and ultimately catapulted to the top of the modeling industry, working for almost three decades now with renowned photographers, editors and brands, including Missoni, Vogue, Chanel, Shiseido, Steven Meisel, Valentino, Versace, Harper’s Bazaar, Christian Dior and countless others. She has walked the international runways and has graced the covers of virtually every major magazine. We are thrilled and lucky that she calls Dallas and Texas home again. Inspired by the bespoke, one-of-a-kind designs of Karen Boulle, the designer of the de Boulle Collection, this year’s campaign features a unique approach that taps into Karen’s passion for both jewelry and animals. Chandra is captured looking both sophisticated and playful with a camel, lemurs, a kinkajou, cockatoos and a serval cat — all while wearing jewelry from the 2017 de Boulle Collection. Inspired by the desert, the tonal ranges of the collection allow the wearer to be the main focus, all while imparting a glow all its own. Moreover, the chic styling shows the range of the de Boulle Collection jewelry — elegant, luxurious, timeless. We are excited to show- case our newest designs and to have Chandra as a brand ambassador. She is brainy, beautiful and conveys confidence — and we hope you enjoy the new campaign. This has been a wild, wonderful year. On top of the usual glamorous madness, we have jetted off to New York to explore the world of Patek Philippe, hosted a party or two and brought home a Rolex Daytona — from Daytona! Come visit us. We look forward to seeing you at de Boulle in Dallas, at 6821 Preston Road, and at de Boulle in Houston, at 4444 Westheimer Road in River Oaks. Enjoy the magazine — and every minute of this wild, wonderful time. Denis Boulle Chief Executive Officer

GREUBEL FORSEY’S NEWEST CREATION: THE QP À ÉQUATION, AVAILABLE IN A MILLÉSIMÉ EDITION WITH A MULTI-LEVEL SILVERED GOLD DIAL

simé remains as easy to set as a simple calendar. Two faces to display 15 indications. The dial of the QP à Équation indicates leap years, the 24 hours of the day and night, the day of the week, the large date, the month, the hours, the minutes and the seconds; as well as the chronometric 72- hour power reserve. On the movement side, this timepiece displays the equation of time with the months, seasons, solstices and equinoxes, as well as the calendar year. The Ultimate Perpetual Calendar, Millésimé The timekeeping of this timepiece relies on Greubel Forsey’s third invention: the Tour- billon 24 Secondes, which uses a fast rotation speed and inclined angle to solve the problem of critical positions of the oscillator in relation to gravity. A 25° angle and the rapid revolution of the tourbillon cage significantly improve the chro- nometric performance of a system containing only one tourbillon, especially in stable positions. This new Millésime’s white gold case measures 43.5 mm by 16 mm thick and provides a simplified linear display. Herein lies the happy paradox of this piece: it is an ul- tra-complicated timepiece with its tourbillon and its complete equation of time perpetual calendar function, but it is as easy to use and adjust as a watch with three hands. This system is extremely easy to adjust in both di- rections without damaging the mechanism.

After seven years of research, the assembly of no fewer than 624 parts, three patents, and the com- bination of two inventions – Greubel Forsey revo- lutionizes one of the oldest watchmaking compli- cations, the perpetual calendar, by incorporating an equation of time. To create this watchmaking complication it was first necessary to develop a Mechanical Computer: this enabled ergonom- ics and readability of the various functions to be simplified, and for all corrections – in- cluding days – to be made rapidly by turn- At the heart of the QP à Équation lies Greubel Forsey’s seventh invention, the Me- chanical Computer, an entirely integrated 25- part component that brings a totally new in- terpretation to some of the calendar functions incorporated in age-old astronomical clocks. It is composed of a set of coding wheels superim- posed in a coaxial manner, along with removable fingers programmed by this ingenious system. Depending on their rotation speeds and number of teeth, these wheels provide a variety of information. The Mechanical Computer also directly drives a sys- tem of sapphire disks that displays the equation of time, i.e. the difference between the “real” solar time and civil time. Paramount to this was simplifying the way all the indications can be corrected by turning the bi-directional crown. Despite its multiple functions and displays, added to its combination of three patents and two inventions, Greubel Forsey’s QP à Équation Millé- ing the bi-directional crown. The Mechanical Computer

There is something about de Boulle and cars: We love cars! We were thrilled to host the His- torical Park Cities event, and for everyone to have a glimpse of the history that is in the Park Cities area: both automobiles and homes. From cocktail parties launching a new watch or a special book signing: At de Boulle we love special events! We also have given a range of donation items to different organizations that we support around the Dallas and Houston areas. Having the smallest impact on raising money for charity just by donating a piece of jewelry is a great feeling. We strive to give everyone a great experience when they are interacting with de Boulle and we hope to continue to do so with the rest of years to come.

UNWOUND Inside de Boulle’s very VIP experience in New York celebrang the world of Patek Philippe

Cipriani 42nd Street was the perfect venue for this most sophisticated celebration. In the heart of Manhat- tan, the Italian Renaissance–inspired venue boasts towering marble col- umns, soaring ceilings, magnificent inlaid floors and glorious chande- liers. For the first time, a two-story structure was installed inside Ci- priani to create the square footage needed for an exhibition of this scale — the largest assembly of key Patek Philippe timepieces in one place, outside of the watchmaker’s own Geneva museum. Ten themed rooms — Current Collection, Film Theatre, Grand Complication, Interactive, Movement, Museum, Napoleon, Rare Handcrafts Gallery, US Historic and Watchmakers’ — were created to showcase unique environments. Vis-

For 10 days this summer, Cipriani 42nd Street in New York hosted “Patek Philippe: The Art of Watches, Grand Exhibition.” The public exhi- bition showcased the Swiss watch- makers’ tradition of high-precision manufacturing, its 178-year history, its heritage in the domain of haute horologerie and the values that make the brand so extraordinary. In short,

the exhibit allowed Patek Philippe to bring its watchmaking prowess, brand values, history and its many amazing artisans to life. Pieces on display ranged from the earliest ex- amples of timepiece history to histor- ical figures’ personal pieces. Lucky visitors discovered the world of the last private, family owned Geneva watch company from the inside.

itors had access to exceptional pocket watches and wristwatches dating back to 1530, all in a space of more than 13,000 square feet. They were enticed from room to room, each one a focus on a different period and theme central to fine watchmaking. A special salon was dedicated to vital pieces from the great American collectors and featured 27 price- less masterpieces, including timepieces and clocks owned by banker Henry Graves, president John F. Kennedy, automobile maker James Ward Packard and many more. While the experience itself was both luxurious and awe-inspiring — seeing so many of the world’s most valuable timepieces in a single location! — it was also relaxed and approachable in the most charming way. Nearly 40,000 people would experi- ence the exhibition in its run from July 13 to 23. In honor of the exhibition, de Boulle took the opportunity to fly many of its closest friends and clients for an experience in New York that money alone could not buy. Karen and Denis Boulle, along with de Boulle president Jeff Bartley, attended a special sneak peek at an exclusive black-tie gala at The Metro- politan Museum of Art. Soon after the start of the exhibition at Cipriani, guests arrived at the stun- ning and historic Plaza Hotel, just off Central Park. After welcome drinks, everyone made their way to a welcome party: The entire downstairs room of Avra Madison Estiatorio, the wonderful Greek restaurant, was blocked off, with tables ready for the group of excited guests. Meals were served family style, with Denis welcoming everyone to what would be an exciting weekend. The next morning, everyone gathered for coffee at the hotel, then boarded a bus for the short ride to “The Art of Watches” exhibition. Upon arrival,

de Boulle guests were ushered through the VIP entrance, then had their photos taken near the beautiful entryway. Next, everyone was greeted by Larry Pettinelli and Lisa Jones, president and vice president, respectively, of Patek Philippe in the United States, who gave an insider’s idea of the meaning and work that went into the brand’s marvelous showcase. For the amazing exhibition to come together, it took roughly three years of planning and develop- ment, including designing the two-story structure and designing and making special pieces in honor of the event. Many of the special-edition timepiec- es are one-of-one editions, or pièces unique , but all have a flair and a focus on the beauty of the United States and the market’s significance in the history of Patek Philippe. The watches introduced to commemorate the exhibition range from men’s and ladies’ World Time complications with the New York skyline in the faces to a pilot’s version of the famous Calatrava, in stainless steel, refer- ence 5522A. Most notable is the World Time Min- ute Repeater, reference 5531R, which debuts to the world a new complication that allows it to chime the local time no matter where it is being worn, anywhere in the world.

de Boulle’s guests spent more than two hours touring the grand exhibition before a delicious lunch, served at the Alsatian-inspired eponymous restaurant of chef Gabriel Kreuther. In addition to Larry Pettinelli and Lisa Jones, the group was honored by the presence of several notable attend- ees from Patek Philippe’s New York and Geneva offices. Many guests returned to the exhibition af- terward, to look more closely, ask more questions of the watchmakers and to discover pieces they might’ve missed. After more time at the exhibit — an immersive museum in every way — and some time to enjoy the city, a fantastic farewell dinner was served at chef Thomas Keller’s three-Michelin-star Per Se, where guests were treated to an eight-course meal. The fun continued in The Plaza Hotel’s bar until late into the night, complete with a surprise visit from the pizza man. Only in New York... A special note for everyone who was able to attend our Patek Philippe experience: We sincerely thank you for being a part of it. We hope it enriched your education, your interest and your passion for Patek Philippe and for de Boulle.

The No. 38 Le Mans Prototype Challenge Car is an open-cockpit sports car producing roughly 475 horsepower, with high levels of downforce coming from a front splitter, a rear diffuser and a large rear wing. Despite some of the most treacherous wet conditions ever, and Le Mans winners and IndyCar aces chasing fervently, the team and the drivers per- formed flawlessly to bring home the class win. In the triumph at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, de Boulle Diamond & Jewelry became the first official Rolex retailer to win the prestigious race. The honor went noted by Rolex: It ran a spectacular advertisement featuring a photograph of Nick Boulle receiving his engraved steel-and-gold Daytona in the podium.

Boulle qualified for the pair in eighth position overall; which means he would start the race. After staying clean through the first lap, he brought the car in, after two pit stops, totaling 1 hour and 40 minutes in the cockpit. Ostella took over to finish with the car, but as the race neared the end, rain hit portions of the circuit. Just after the first stop for fuel and tires, Ostella went out on wet tires, only to do a handful of laps before the circuit dried out quickly. With only minutes remaining in the race, rain began to fall on the far side of the circuit. Just at the end of the 176-mph back straight, Mosport’s turn No. 8 is taken in fifth gear. With only two minutes left to race, rain began falling again through this fast corner. The car slipped away from Ostella, flipping as it hit the wall at about 100 mph. It was an unfortunate ending to an outstanding weekend: Time and progress with the car meant several goals were accomplished.

After a strong opening stint by Wilson, Boulle took over for his stint of roughly two hours. After taking the lead with only 40 minutes left to race, a small mistake by the pit crew pushed the pair down the ladder. Before the end of the race, Boulle recovered to bring the car home in second position.

GLOBAL AND GLAMOROUS What inspires Karen Boulle, creator of the de Boulle Collection? The answer is as multifaceted as her designs.

Karen Boulle began designing jewelry 33 years ago, when she and her husband, Denis, established de Boulle. Her unique collection offers an exquisite selection of meticulously handcrafted and beautifully designed fine jewelry in 18K gold or platinum with diamonds and gemstones. Karen’s inspirations stem from a childhood spent traveling the Middle East and the Far East with her family. These beautiful areas had a great im- pact on her creative inspirations as she saw the towns, villages and markets, each with their distinct colors, treasures and architecture. These fond childhood memories form the basis of design for the de Boulle Collection. Karen’s love of nature and animals also plays a significant part in every piece of the de Boulle Collection. These visual cues can be seen in hand-ham- mered gold leaves or finely detailed gem-covered petals and animal prints.

Karen believes that a design’s details are what make a lasting impression. What’s more, each piece is made from only the finest organic materials from around the world. The metals and gemstones work together to influence which direction Karen’s creativity takes with her designs. Unique gemstones from around the world are focal points of the collection, and to Karen, each gemstone is alive and beautiful. She is especially drawn to jade, moonstone and turquoise. Whether it’s jeans or couture, or any- where in between, the de Boulle Collection is fitting — at once elegant and luxurious, timeless and sophisticated. In addition to pieces designed by Karen, the collection also includes special pieces that she hand-picks. Here, Karen’s favorite pieces from the 2017 collection:

← Rope Link Bracelet with Signature “B” Toggle “This is one of my favorite bracelets! We will be adding 18K rose gold in 2018.”

46

← Temple Earrings “This new find from Basel is Ethiopian opal. They are filled with luminosity, and go great with jeans — or glammed up.”

Signataire Bangle ↓ “These are delicate, but they have an edge. They also combine my fondness for rose-cut diamonds.”

Papillon → “The ring is the epitome of femininity. The articulation of the sapphire-and-diamond-en- crusted wings adds a beautiful playfulness.”

Bow Bangles ↓ “Since I am a breast-cancer survivor, it was only fitting to design this dainty and stackable bangle.”

Gothic Ring ↓ “It is just fun! The blackened rhodium and the rose-cut diamonds give the ring a unique and almost architectural vibe.”

Sleeping Beauty Earrings ↑ “These earrings have detachable diamond drops, so you can easily change your look. The turquoise is an exquisite color from a mine that is now depleted.”

Ooman Empire Earrings ↑ “I love emeralds. They are dramatic, regal and decadent.”

AIMING FOR PERFECTION

When handling a Holland & Holland sporting shotgun or rifle, you immediately understand that it is perfectly suited to its purpose. Such an achievement does not come by evolution alone, even though Holland & Holland guns trace their lineage to 1835. Its other parent is curiosity, the desire of the craftsman and the gunmaker to challenge themselves to improve on time-honored methods. The Holland & Holland factory, in Kensal Green, west of central London and not far from London

is the creation of our 60 craftsmen, each making their equal contribution to the finished piece. The machinist, the barrel maker, the actioner, the engraver: Theirs is the responsibility for turning bare metal into a magnificent gun that will still be shooting straight and true when your great-grand- son is an old man. Depending on the model — currently seven are offered — anywhere from 650 to 1,250-plus man hours go into making it. No part of a Holland & Holland gun is interchangeable: Everything is made specifically for one gun, down to the smallest pin. That is why, at most, just 70 guns are made each year, by the finest, most dedicated and enthu- siastic craftsmen in the world — blending the past and present into every sporting shotgun and rifle. There are two Holland & Holland Gun Rooms in the world: London, in the heart of Mayfair, and Dallas, on the second floor of de Boulle Diamond & Jewelry. There, experience a unique melding of art and craft via a range of new and pre-owned Holland & Holland sporting shotguns and rifles and other best guns, and the Holland & Holland accessories that go with them — perfectly. 6821 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas, 75205; 214-520-6640; hollandandholland.com

Almost 120 years later, the factory, although new paint adorns its exterior and new equipment fills its interior, is still ideally suited to its task. It is a tall, slender building with large windows for maximum light. On one side, the actioners take advantage of the early morning light while, on the other side, the engravers prefer the afternoon light for their craft.
