While I find it difficult to narrow down my diverse ex- periences to just one defin- ing moment, I think the one that has meant the most to me, both professionally and personally, was being named Gebroe-Hammer Associates’ Salesperson of the Year last year. This peer-selected top award is based on a vote of the firm’s brokers. Named in honor of our late founders, Mel Gebroe and Morris Ham- mer, the award recognizes one

brokerage professional annu- ally for exceptional, consis- tent sales performance. Such acknowledgements motivate me to set higher benchmarks for myself each and every day. What unique qualities do you feel make you most successful in your profes- sion? As a business woman and a mother of five, I embrace the unique attributes females bring to commercial real es- tate brokerage – specifically, relationship building – and leverage them to advance my career. I focus on building a rapport beyond business by taking a genuine interest in my clients’ families. This,

coupled with my strong ana- lytical skills and disciplined work habits, is the secret to my success. How do you manage the work/life balance? Achieving this balance is something that all profession- als, whether they are mothers, fathers or caregivers, aspire to. For me, I embrace spend- ing as much time as possible with my four daughters and son doing things they enjoy, both one-on-one and as a fam- ily. We share our successes, which are marked by special dinner celebrations, as well as our failures and what we learn from them. My children know continued on page 16C

ell us how you began your career in the profession. Thanks to a great deal of encouragement from an ac- quaintance, who piqued my interest in commercial real estate, I enrolled in – and suc- cessfully completed – a formal real estate training program and earned my license. I was then immediately hired by my instructor, an executive with a New York-based investment firm. In 2011, after meeting with several commercial bro- kerage firms, I decided to join Gebroe-Hammer Associates as a sales representative. After less than a year with the firm, I was promoted to assistant vice president. What is your current position? As an assistant vice presi- dent and the firm’s Bergen/ Passaic county market spe- cialist, I focus on multi-family investment sales in New Jer- sey’s most densely populated counties, where there is a high concentration of post-war era apartment buildings and un- relenting demand for existing multi-family product. What has been your greatest professional ac- complishment during the past 18 months? I take great pride in my in- depth market knowledge, ac- quired by entrenching myself in my territory, and creative deal structuring abilities, which have earned me a high velocity of exclusive listings throughout Passaic and Ber- gen counties. As the “broker of choice” in this area, I have closed 20 transactions total- ing 556 units during the past 18 months. Additionally, I also actively represent clients whose interests extend beyond Northern New Jersey. What has been your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2014? During a recent 10-day timeframe in September, I T
