Sire of lots 503, 516, 586, 5159, 5179, 5197 Galen Voss bought this 97 bull as a yearling. I really liked the bull when he sold and at the time had thought about retaining him for use here. His mother was only a first calf heifer when she raised him so I figured I’d have more chances to keep one of her sons in the future. The next year she had a full brother to 97, Loyning 7 Equinox 0009, who sold to Edie Creek Angus in Manitoba Canada. Again my thought was she’ll have another. Fast forward and it’s been heifers for 7008 ever since! Galen had been really bragging 97 up to me and loved everything about him. So I brought 97 back into the program and man am I glad I did! He sired a very high quality, impressive set of calves for us. Bulls and heifers alike, are equally useful. He has a very quiet disposition and is agreeable to work with. We are keeping 2 of his sons to use back in our purebred program and will breed all of his daughters. He hasn’t made one calf here that doesn’t pass muster as far as I can tell. They are consistently good. It’s almost like I planned this out 10 years ago...You gotta love it when a plan comes together! My next plan for 97 is for him to breed all the cows 10 years old and up. I think it’ll work! Bred by Loyning Angus and proudly owned with Galen Voss.

Sire of lots 563, 577, 585, 5120, 5214 Fester came from my good friend Tyler Shea in Broken Bow, NE. I had called Tyler looking for a “straight Shoshone” bred bull would offer up a bit of outcross for the lines we work with. While he’s not a complete outcross as out herd is heavily influence by Horse Butte 1116 of 3116, his dam Shea Frances 6380 does offer up a bit of a “stir” for us. 6380 is the result of a mother/son mating. Her mother 6384 was one of the most ideal cows that Tyler purchased from Larry Leonhardt at Shoshone. Those cows are strong and sturdy, yet feminine, refined, and functionally efficient. There is a bit more birthweight in the Fester calves, but I really like what I’m seeing from his progeny so far. We have retained a son and several daughters to go back into our herd. Bred by and proudly owned with Tyler Shea
