Une solution moins amère proposée HAWKESBURY | Le conseil de Hawkesbury s’apprête à adopter de nouveaux taux pour les services d’eau et d’égouts lors de l’assemblée du 16 décembre.
nouveaux frais d’usagers plus élevés lors de la dernière facturation 2013, soit la période du 1 er octobre au 31 décembre, pour com- bler les manques à gagner aux budgets 2013. D’autres augmentations seront mises en œuvre afin de financer les coûts accrus pour les services d’eau et d’égouts en 2014. Pour l’eau, la facture moyenne en 2014 sera de 400$, ou 103$ plus chère que la fac- ture de 2013, selon un scénario présenté par le directeur général Jean-Yves Carrier la semaine dernière. Cette année, des frais supplémentaires de 34,47$ seront ajoutés, augmentant la facture à 298,76$.
Pour les égouts, la facture moyenne sera de 421$, ou 125$ de plus que la facture de 2013. Pour les derniers trois mois de 2013, des frais supplémentaires de 42$ seront ajoutés, pour une facture totale de 295$. La municipalité transférera 500 000$ de ses réserves pour aider à l’élimination du manque à gagner pour les services d’eau et d’égouts. Les frais pour la collecte d’ordure et le recyclage seront également augmen- tés en 2014. Les taux seront finalisés l’année prochaine, alors qu’un nouveau contrat sera négocié avec la compagnie Mayer Sa- nitation.
Même avec les augmentations, les taux dans Hawkesbury seront comparables aux taux imposés dans d’autres municipalités de l’est de l’Ontario, a souligné M. Carrier. Des données erronées sur la consomma- tion de l’eau potable sont responsables des manques à gagner anticipés dans le dépar- tement des égouts sanitaires et pour le ser- vice d’eau. Une des coupes proposées par l’adminis- tration est l’élimination du fluor dans l’eau potable, ce qui se traduirait par une écono- mie de 10 400$.. Selon M. Carrier, plusieurs municipalités auraient éliminé le fluor.
La solution aux problèmes financiers de la Ville serait un peu moins amère qu’anti- cipée. Des révisions dans les budgets pour les deux départements ont été faites à la suite d’une consultation qui a eu lieu en novembre. L’allocation pour le service d’eau a été réduite de 2 519 0928$ à 2 494 628$ tandis que le budget pour le service des égouts a été réduit de 2 404 394$ à 2 392 624$. Le conseil vise l’imposition de
